The thing I find about taking pics of reptiles is it general means you are taking time to smell the roses. I find they generally dont pop up on the side of the road but you need to be "at one with the envoiroment" to get really good unspoilt pics, do Like your efforts wombat

 we do a lot of bush walking, great way to see any native's be they flower's or wildlife, as you say they do not sit at the roadside and wait for photographer's
