My gosh, jonathan, are you sure. Thats a heck of a walk. Will check with the officials on the Nomads Book of Records when I get there. I've looked over at the other side, never had the urge to walk there though.
I'm just wondering how you think they would have got medical assistance to you if required. Jimbos bike would be the only mode of transport to get around there.
The mind boggles Can't you just picture Jimbo and Billee with a stretcher, one forward one aft, trotting around the lake to bring Jon back to base.........
Thats great, I love tramping, and losing weight at moment, so I will be in fine fetter when we take off in february. You must have started early in the morning, what 5am and did you take glucose and water. what was the terrain like.many hills?
All flat Lyn, a lot swampy I would think around the back. Have only walked across the front. Its all farmland across the other side. Imagine the snakes.
.. it's a cool but windy day today .. started around 9.00am finished around 1.00 pm .. Its quite flat with about 1/3 of it walking on 4wd bush track .. the rest was virtually making your own decisions about where to go .. lots of barb wire fences to step across .. wild grass up to 2ft high which you need to step over .. lots of retracing steps when you find yourself confronted with water obstacles which you gotta go around ..
Both those lakes are here at the same place .. I had only intended to walk around Greens Lake, but when almost back here, a 30 ft water channel stopped me and I had to then skirt Fresh Lake as well ..
In all, I don't think it would have been any more than 15 k's at he most .. but a walk in the park would have left me feeling much fresher ..
Loved it though .. blood blister and all ..
Jon
PS .. I think medical assistance would have been .. "best of luck" ..

Gubby .. I couldn't bear to see you darling wife unable to pick us apart ..
and Vic .. as you would know, it's hard to maintain ones image all the time ..
and .. Its not good when yabbies prefer old steak to fresh mince either .. I suppose one must learn to walk on water .. it has been done before and under much less stress ..
Reminds me of a camping trip with the young-uns in my family...they decided to paddle the Queen Mary..canoe...up a creek. Barb wire fence...crawl out the muddy bank, physically carry very heavy QM up and over...back in the water...flotsam from floodwater..up and manhandle QM again...and so it went. They were gone for hours! Makes for a great yarn though...They call it character building! It's an oft told story in my family.
And Gubby, I love that picture!

Jonathan wrote;; Full support was always present with live communcations back to the Base Camp where medical assistance was always on hand though never needed ..
If support was needed we were going to hijack one of the many boats here to cross the lake.
Bring Jonathan back as a boat person & all would be fixed.

hello is there something in the water for everyone to go ga ga.whats the fuss about a little walk
A little hint RalphRalph, don't take everything you read on this Forum as serious, I've noticed now and then there is a bit of lightheartedness and levity, also a little bit of joking and taking the mickey out of one another.
This is just something I've noticed occasionally, everyone is not as serious as Wombat, Vic and myself...

Jonathan, Your record is safe as far as i'm concerned I won't be challeging it. But look out for Molly i'm sure she could give you a run for your money. She's still thinking about it though. lol
Well done Jon, no doubt the support team was relaxing and standing by having drinkies and nibble while you were away, hard work standing by, lol!
Glad you did it Jon, Yeoeleven would have been proud of you also being a keen walker himself if he had been there!
Well done Jon, your record is safe from me. My efforts have been mainly endurance and climbing lately in Cape Le Grand National Park and they are documented in that thread. No GN world record was created but anyone is welcome to have a go just to complete the walks.
