Im not too woried about my Generators voltage now. Check this out we had just over 300V on our mains for over a hour before i decided to check it, after the wife says there was poping noises by the computer & a bad smell. We now have every apliance in the house that has a SMPS in it is burnt out & one fridge not working. At least our 2 laptops are still workin on there batterys as the chargers are fried to. Not happy, All of the town of Yorketown & surounding districts have been affected. Power is now back to 245V. Another bit of bad news the Surge protector doesnt protect this type of continuous HV, it only protects spikes of HV.

Gee DeBe mate, that's an absolute bummer. Is there repercussions for the power provider? Maybe the windfarm was blowing too hard in the southerly. (joking). I'd be seeking compensation asap, after claiming some sort of insurance if possible. What are the customers' options in these circumstances? I'd be really interested in the options and the outcome.

Smart move taking that photo, proper RMS (moving iron) meter too, so no arguments about multimeter error. Maybe contact your local media outlets as they (the supply authority) probably don't like bad publicity.

ETSA dont give A, Over 50% owned now by a multi millionaire in Asia. Didnt realise the fridge had a computer in it. The surge protector VRS1 the green thing by the fuse is split, the fuse blown as is the little transformer. Have bypassed this & found the compressor works ok & the defrost circuit works, So I gues now is what its worth & are they avalable.
Has that little flatpack IC1 got a hole in it, or is it just some white marking on the surface. Seems like just about everything has a chip in it these days eh?
