Spoke today (Monday) to WA licensing authorities and found that you can renew van registration up to three months in advance.
This could be handy for those who want to go away and will therefore not be home to get the renewal notice in the mail.
Depends, of course, on when the rego expires. My own runs out very early June, so renewing three months beforehand gives me 15 months to roam without worrying.
I believe (did not specifically go into this) that the arrangement would apply to tow-vehicle rego as well.
Cheers, Tony

Not sure about WA but the last two years I have got a roadworthy for my NSW registered van. Year one in QLD and this year the NT. No problems with them being accepted in NSW. Not sure if you need roadworthy in WA but with direct debit and fund transfer there should be no problem when your away.
In NSW you can also renew your rego 3 months in advance as I rang the RTA to other day to ask as I hope to be away when my car is due next year. They said ring them a few weeks in advance and ask for the paper work to be forwarded early
In Vic you can pay by BPay online, so where ever you have your mail diredted to while you are away, ask them to give you the details when it arrives, go online and pay, all done.
Hi, In WA you can do it online or over the phone. I renewed mine in NT last year and as we don't need stickers any more, all was good when stopped for a police check.
Getting a roadworthy certificate for NSW rego in the other states can be a bit of a pain.
For example, in WA there are actually only about a dozen mechanics in Perth that have the qualifications to do one. Also I wanted a service done on my car at the same time but since my car is an LPG/petrol car I had to go to 2 mechanics as the mechanic who was qualified to do LPG work wasn't qualified to do inspections.
Also in NSW the inspection costs about $38 but from memory, in WA it cost me over $80 then another $60 or so for the gas part.
Apart from that problem the rest of the rego was easy. I ended up getting the name of a lovely lady at the NSW RTA who I rang & organized it all with, then, the following year I rang her again & she was pleased to take care of me again.
Cheers
Jon
