Due to health reasons our van and tug are on the market. We have got a small unit in Barmera S.A. We had a friend looking after some stuff for us in Cairns and now need to get it to Barmera. I was going to hire a trailer or a one way trailer from SA to Cairns. After working out fuel costs etc we decided to get a quote or two from Removalists. We had three quotes from $1100 to $990 pickup Kuranda to Barmera, it worked out cheaper than fuel, wear and tear and of course my time. We got one more quote just to be sure, are you ready? Try $4791. Yep it's not a misprint, I thought it was so I emailed back saying you made a typo! "No this is the correct price" They even asked Me to make sure the others were giving the same service. Bugger me, we went with a large multi national company based in Australia for $990. Picked up all O K, the guys even waited for ten minutes so as not to load the goods in the rain, there was only 3.5 cubic mtrs of gear. Really check around for quotes, you might save some big dollars

I hope it all arrived in one piece.
Every time I have used a removalist I have ended up with numerous broken items. The last trip back from Qld about 8 years ago. One full box of ornaments and crockery, well wrapped, every single piece was broken. They didn't want to know when I rang to tell them.

When I moved back to Melbourne from Townsville many years ago I got four quotes - two were basically the same give or take a couple of hundred but the other two - very large companies were thousands of dollars dearer - just like yours.  Maybe they just didn't want the business being a small loads too.
