Like the title says I need (OK perhaps want is more accurate) a portable satellite dish to make my mobile home complete. Unfortunately I'm not having a whole lot of luck finding someone to sell me one. I'm heading for Canberra in the next couple of days or so - can anyone recommend someone there? Please? Yes, I know that I could buy one (cheaper) on the internet but there is a problem with that in that I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing when it comes to this kind of technology so I need to talk to someone who does know what they are doing and I need to buy from someone who has the patience to talk me through how to use it - step by painful step. Right now I'm just very confused .
Hi Nomadic1,I don't know if it's acceptable on the site but I ordered a sat dish from satplus, online,when I was in mid trip from Melbourne to Hervey Bay.It was here when I arrived and I use it with the VAST system and it works well.
If you are able, visit their site as they have a sale of the Minimax dishes on right now. Good savings to be had.
Thanks for that but how did you learn how to use it and where did you get the VAST thingy from and how did you learn how to use that? I can never figure these things out myself.

Patience is the word!!!!,i dont want to put you off, they are brilliant when you get the knowledge to set it up.I had one but sold it, just was not using it much, when i went to use it i allways seem to have seniors moment. All the best any how. rvtraveller2

Hi Duckster, Just had a look on ebay and cannot find the unit the same as the SatPlus one, there are look alike one's but not the same unit, can you please supply a link to the eBay one.
With the one on SatPlus you have to have the vast decoder turned on, with the one I use (see pic) you only need one lead connected to the dish and the decoder cable is attached after you have found the signal.
Saw one of these on ebay for $104 this morning
I also prefer a tripod to that Minimax dish, a friend of mine has one and always has problems setting it up, the metal is very thin and cheap crap, that's my 2 bob's worth on that dish, better to go for a tripod one.

Thanks for your replies - I'll go for a tripod. But reading what you have to say just confuses the hell out of me - I definitely need someone to decipher all the jargon for me. I'm in Queanbeyan at the moment and have leads on 2 possible suppliers in this area so I'll be checking them out on Monday.
