Yes we are all very interested in your explanation Jules and Norma..... Reckon I might stay away from those get togethers - they sound a bit spicey for me.
Isn,t Nimbin in Transalvania, somewhere in the deep south.I think the deep voice, and the beard, and the hairy chest sort of convinced me.There are some rather strange people around in Nimbin...............

I was too scared to even get out of the car in Nimbin!
Few year back now my eldest daughter was 14 she wanted to go to Nimbin when we were on hoildays at the gold coast ... So we went there on the way home ..Pull up at one end of town walk up one side of street and down the other ... it was dirty .people sleeping on mattress on the street .. my daugther had seen enought and we left ..thank god lol

I had several friends who lived long term in Nimbin in the 70's. I went up there a few times between 75 and 79 and it was a really nice place, clean, creative and friendly and welcoming. My friends had properties out of town but there were really interesting studios, coffee shops which also functioned as forums and meeting places, lots of creative stuff happening there. The pub was great as well, it seemed a good place for the old farmers to mix with the new people coming into town.
It's really sad to see the end of a really good vision and dream.
Still a fun place to visit -the characters you see - and the mixing of people from all walks of life - lovely shops - great place to be happy in - even saw a chook meander out into the middle of the main street, leave a deposit, then amble over to the other side of the road!
