Has any one had the Barmah forest or Ross river viruse?

If so do you still have the side affects?

The Barmah forest one got me about 12/14 years back & each year at this it gives me hell.

The first two yrs I had it 100% day & night, then started to ease over the next 18mths.

It was pure hell, I struggled big time in the work place; & it gave me no rest at night.

I know a couple of other people who had it around the same time & still have not recovered as well. We have ok days & bad days.

Has any one else experienced this,?

My wife has the rotten virus after 5 years.Sometimes she has a really bad dose and sometimes it is fairly mild.Apparently it does not go away but hides in our bodies just waiting to pounce again. This is usually as you are preparing for a trip or holiday.lol.For the symptoms I would suggest a visit to the pages of Google. It can and does make you as crook as a dog.cry

Aching of jounts& sorness, stiffness, can't close your hands or hold things.

Knees wont bent, tiredness, cranky, [a very short fuse] .

You feel like you have been bound up very tightly, all you want to do is stretch all joints & this is impossibile. If you try to lay on your back feels like some one sitting on your knees trying to bend them the wrong way, turn onto your side & you can't stand the weight of one leg on top of the other & so on. Feel like the world is against you.

For two years I walked like a 90year  old bow legged stockman, was greyer than death , and kept trying to work as well.

After the two yr period it started to ease a bit, some mornings you felt good & by 9.00am you were back to crap. This went on for another 18 mths before I thought i was over it, but it comes back for a few days , not as bad & each year around the same time as i first got it.

There was no cure for it, I tried all kinds of things to kill the pain but nothing helped.

I'm really over it.LOL.

Geez! That is terrible, I had no idea RR virus or the Barmah one were so bad. I'm so sorry you had and still have such a bad time JC, hope it improves.
A timely warning to cover up and try to dodge the ****** Mosquitoes.

Swine flu has similar symptons. Antibiotics will calm it down but it's a virus and nothing kills it.
Like malaria they both keep recurring. Age doesn't seem to be a factor in the severity of the aches, pains and ill effects.
My thoughts are certainly with you.
Fortunately I haven't been afflicted. I put this down to the Mega B I've been taking since '96 when I learned I was going to the Kimberleys.
I get the occasional mozzie bite, but no ill effects so far.
