Good one pal, you should get a lot of use out of the Garmin, a word of caution use in conjunction with a paper map as they can send you down some terrible tracks.

I was talking to the NRMA a couple of weeks ago when I renewed my membership and they told me about the Garmin but I also discovered that there is another bonus after fifty years of membership which is next year for me membership at any level is half price and they said would probably have extra bonus for two year renewal.

 Been using Garmin for many years, bought a new one about 12 mths ago & love it, it has a lot more features than this one but hey , the price was right.

Will use this one in another family member;s car next week when we go to the G/Coast to visit kids for Xmas.

Cheers;

 I have found the Garmin to be far superior to some of the others, even so mine tried to send me across an open paddock to get to a street on the other side.  I thought at first that I had set it up incorrectly but was not the case, it chose the shortest route and that meant cutting across the paddock.

I have seen this before, if you look at some maps there are roads  marked on that do not exist, I think this is part of the planning towards the future but the requirement for these roads has not presented its self as yet.

 Quite right there pal, I must admit I never gave that a thought at the time. Thanks.

My husband won't use his Navigator it has sent us into back roads when we know there is a better way. I bought it for xmas last year he has used it three times it just sits in the glove box, he would rather use the map

Check you settings on the GPS, you can choose between shortest, quicker, more economical, avoidances ect. When you have set your destination you can look at each turn from the top info bar before you start off, if this is not what you want just cancel , head off in the general direction for a bit & reset GPS again, it will often pick up the direction you prefer.

A gps does not know which way you are facing when parked, you have to move so it can direct you. EG, you may be parked beside a lake on your left & the unit shows it on your right but as soon as you move the map will turn around to the correct location.

Have another go.
