Lorrella spring has to be one the best places I have ever been, and the camp area is right beside a thermal spring at 37c! the whole station homestead is solar powered and Brett, the owner is easy to get on with. Its a bit off the beaten track, and a 4wd is definately recommended, but the drive is well worth it. Only go in the dry season, as the place closes in the wet.Fishing is amazing in Bessy ck if the road in is open. Its about 200 klms from Boraloola , 20klms off the Nathan R road, very remote.Bill

Yeah, lots of crocs, and big ones. The creek at lorrela only gets fished in the dry, and only when you can get in.If you,ve seen the tv programs, its real wilderness.Brett said that the biggest manganese deposit is on the station, which , mind you, is 1million hectares! He was not happy with the drilling crews as they were destroying his tracks, but can,t stop them as he only has a pastoral lease, and doesn,t own the mineral rights.Great spot, will be back, again. Bill
If you Google Lorella Springs, the web site will give you a place where you can sign up to receive their email newsletter a couple of times a year. Makes really interesting reading. The web site itself will whet your appetite to visit the place. We were aiming to go there last year, until the driver's health issues kept us home. Thought about it again for this year - then ditto! Won't get there now. A few years ago we worked a season at a nearby property - Pungalina - which was then run as a tourist venture. The scenery and wilderness there were absolutely brilliant - so much so that it has been bought by the AWC. The pictures of Lorella Springs remind me very much of Pungalina, so I think it would be a very special place to visit. It is possible to get to Borroloola on a bitumen road, so getting out to Lorella Springs would involve about 130 of unsealed road.
