Myrtle had got very noisy in the exhaust. Has been getting noisier for a while. Got back from a very windy Greens Lake, was talking to the neighbour who suggested getting it checked.
I had always assumed it had something to do with the extractors etc installed in the first roadyworthy fix.
Neighbour said maybe not, a gasket might have gone. So I popped around to my fantastic mechanic Sam, He slid underneath while the motor was going. Yep the front exhaust gasket was leaking.
Leave it with me I will ring you when its done. Sam said. Hows that for service.
You should hear her now, well you can't really, she's so quiet. Magic.
He said it had completely disintegrated, there was nothing left.
Goodonya HW, you have found yourself a great mechanic!!!. Glad it all ok, and fixed before it became drastic. A little exhaust noise (sometimes even a lot of noise) is considered "cool" by the P platers set, but most uncool for a mature lady such as Myrtle.
Don't even let that worry you even a little bit Marge,, It is a common thing to happen, and cheap to fix. Your mechanic seems to be good and fair now so stick with him, Like the old Moretien fly spray ad used to say
' If your on a good thing' ' stick to it '
Now that Myrtle is quiete it's time you sneaked off on your little trip
Cost just under 100.00, so I'm not complaining. Can't go anywhere now till after payday but thats ok. Have arran ged to walk the campaspe with daughter tomorrow and Thursday going up town with her for lunch. Yes wombat, shes turned off now. My daughter won't be able to say she can hear me coming from 2 streets away anymore.
