You should know by now when you read other forums they will do their best to put another one down, tell some untruths and do their best to denigrate the site.
They can be a bit like politicians really. Never believe what the other side is saying.

Another one I'm on asked for donations to help run the site. I ignored the request. When does one pay to talk on a forum. You don't. If you don't like it move on.

I was invited, some time ago to go to other forums, but got sick of the sniping at each other, so I never left this one. Don,t let the standards drop as it has in others. It gets quite boring.

$100 Wombat! Should definitely have been $1,000 at least! No, this site will never be user pays. We created the site as a place for grey nomads and wannabe grey nomads to get together to exchange advice, stories and tips, nothing more. It has grown more popular than we ever imagined but we are all too well aware that that is because of the wonderful people who visit this forum, rather than anything we have done. We are just delighted that so many people enjoy it and would never do anything to deter anyone from joining and enjoying. Please if anyone has any questions about the site or the forum, just PM me and ask rather than risking spreading an untrue rumour. Hope that sets the record straight everybody.

Thank you Cindy for the prompt reply, it is reassuring, I purposely posted the question instead of PM to you as the rumour was already out there on another forum and I am aware that others here also visit that forum from time to time, so I felt it was best to be out in the open, if we can't talk and share our thoughts and fears, then why are we here.

It's all about jealousy and rotten rumours. If you can't join or better them, degrade and discredit them.

To be fair, I know of one major RV forum that will not allow members to denigrate another forum and will remove any comments of that nature.

Another newer one does invite donations but says there is no obligation on members to do so, eg;

"On our main site there is a link to donate by PayPal.
We certainly don't want anyone to fell any pressure or obligation to donate. This is a FREE website and always will be. Any donations will be used for the ongoing costs of providing the site, and for providing further user benefits."

Likewise, I don't think we should bag other forums on GN.

I'm not really a forum person, just facebook to keep up with rellies and friends...people I KNOW. So I have no idea what they're saying on other forums. I found this site and have been more than happy with the advise and friendship I've found. Why would I bother looking at another forum!

I'm also happy with the way Cindy will step in and quickly stop some threads from going too far.

I am on a number of forums and each one has different information and most people on them are fairdinkum and only use it to better their caravanning experiences and get up to date reports
Grey Nomads is a great forum and caravanners forum and explore oz are also very informative
