I find that as soon as a discover something I like and start to buy it, that is a signal for them to stop making it. A few months ago we discovered South Cape spreadable goat's cheese, really good on sandwiches and so much easier to spread than the normal goat's cheese, then of course it suddenly disappeared from supermarket shelves. They even seem to have stopped making the rubber gloves I like!
I went looking for that lovely Kraft Gherkin Spread some time ago, only to find they don't make it anymore. All you can get is finely chopped gherkins.
I still think they made a big mistake there. It was a great Spread.
I always though Fray Bentos was an English Brand Name. Don't remember seeing it in Australia.
Cheers,
Sheba.
Never come across the Fray Bentos Corn Beef but would certainly buy if I found it.
Fray Bentos Steak and Kidney (with puff pastry) pies that are available in the supermarkets are made by Cambells Soups Australia in Victoria.
We always carry a couple, as they require no refrigeration.
They are in our emergency kit in case we get stranded, say rained in, and run low on food though sometimes we get one out for an evening meal just for a change.
