Hi Beth. Up on the border here we had thunderstorms from 11pm last night to most of today. A bit of rain, got wet going to daughters for lunch, but nothing like they had further south. Was supposed to be 37 degrees but only got to 29, thank goodness.
We copped storms from Saturday night, through most of Xmas day and evening. Stopped now. Poor dog was going berserk! Step daughter and family had flight cancelled yesterday. Rescheduled for today. Cars at long term car park at airport had trees fallen on them.
Lucky for us, we held our family Xmas BBQ on saturday. Weather was perfect! Off on our cruise tomorrow. Very excited!
Well, since the family members who were coming to xmas tea didn't come, due to flooded roads, hail. etc - we now will be eating our way through lots and lots of leftovers for the next week or so!
We are currently in the caravan park in East Doncaster and copped the brunt of the storm. Damage: awning down due to the weight of the hail, awning arm is cactus; big dent in the van cladding due to the awning arm hitting the side of the van. Could have been worse! I was on the phone to CIL this morning - had a 45 minute wait - and was told that an assessor would be in contact "some time in the new year" .... what the? We leave Melbourne in 4 weeks so we had better have this sorted out by then. First claim we have had in the three years we have been on the road fulltime, not a bad innings!

MikeMin - When we had awning damage due to ferocious wind in Kalbarri, we took the van to a repairer in Geraldton, they liaised with the insurance company and all we had to do was obtain a claim number for them. We had the claim approved and the awning completely replaced (not just the canvas - frame, supports, the whole lot) within a few days, all it cost us was the excess. We're with CIL too.
