What's on your bucket list?

I have had a list of things to do before I  die since the 1980's. When the list gets a bit short as I tick stuff off, I add a few, just in case God thinks I've  finished.

Over the years I have seen the changing of the Guard at Buck House, watched the sun set over Galway Bay, skied in Switzerland and cycled through the Austrian Tyrol. I watched the dancing horses inVienna, heard the V.Boys choir sing, climbed Ayres Rock and heard the great Australian opera sopranos sing. I learned to scuba dive  and play golf (hated both).

I got to Venice one day late for their famous regatta, and missed the blessing on the animals in Assisi by a day as well- so they are still on the list.

I added a Masters Degree once.

I really want to spend more time on the road, and I want to spend 6 months or so living in Scotland.

I would like to learn to spin, do a bit of volunteer work for some great cause, understand Aussie Rules and publish my family tree.

..........and I would like to tidy the study !

What's on your list?

Mine are a bit simpler than yours Rosie, and closer to home.

I want to go in a hot air balloon. Although I'm not good with heights, I'd love to do it.

A road trip around Victoria...which is planned for late 2012.

Drive across the Nullabor and have a good look around southern WA.

I've also recently added Norfolk Island.

Be shot by a jealous husband when I turn 100. Seriously I will think about this.

In early 2011, we got to tackle two of the items on the driver's bucket list: to see the Top End in the storm season and to ride the Ghan. We flew to Darwin and had ten days there. Overdid the storm thing, somewhat, experiencing Cyclone Carlos up close and personal. It was only a Category 1, but quite enough for us! Then travelled the Ghan to Adelaide - though we had to be bussed to Katherine to meet it, due to floods. Shades of what is happening now.
I enjoyed the Ghan much more than expected. Have put the Indian Pacific on my bucket list now.

To get up every morning - wake up and put both feet on the floor.
Then keep travelling, and maybe cruise the European rivers, Alask and Canada. (Dreaming)

Your "done" Bucket list, was such fun Rosie, and so energetic.

I often have listened to others "bucket list" but really never thought of creating one my self, I suppose I should, as it is so pro active.

I did want to travel more till all the horrible restrictions in airports so I now have decided to go first class... I suppose that is on a bucket list. AND, I would like to paint like Monet but enjoy fame. Be a really healthy and good looking 70....80 and 90 year old...but most of all I want to have fun, fun with the people I love and fun with the people I don't.

Cheers to you all, And I am Looking forward to a great 2012 and wishing you all the best.

Sharon

I had a friend who asked "If they told you tonight that you would die in the morning, would you spend the night thinking about all the things you had wanted to do?"

She reckoned that she would never say "Gee, I wish I had time to watch one more episode of days of our lives! "

That started us off with our "list of things to do before you die" long before it was a bucket list.

I think I assumed that everyone would have such a list.

I think things get crossed off mine as I do them and never realise that it was on the list to start. smile

See I never thought I wanted to travel around Australia in a caravan in the red dirt and heat, watching not much at all but one trip and I became addicted.

I think of travel in Oz everyday. I don't want to go to another country though, that spooks me a bit.

Beth, did the hot air balloon this year around May mate. I don't like heights at all and I was very worried I would freak out. No way I could see me looking over the side of that balloon but I did. It was exhilarating  to say the least. Would do it again in a hearbeat. wink

I was recently told there's one not too far away from me at Canungra. But, she said, you have to be able to climb over and into the basket. The staff are not allowed to help you. (???) She'd seen an older man have terrible trouble getting out again. I'd never thought about the getting in and out, so I said, well that's out for me. I couldn't possibly climb over. I thought they'd have a little gate or something.

Is this true of all of them, or just this particular one?

When I went for mine, they helped us in because the basket is high. Sometimes they keep it lying down so you get in and lean back as they raise it.

When we landed, the tipped the basket over for us to get out using the same theory.

That sounds more sensible to me. I'm thinking to do it for my 60th, which is 2 1/2 years away. I'll have to do some research before then. Thanks FF.

For years I have had a folder with a separate sleeve in it for each State of Aus; and every time that I see, hear, read, or otherwise find out about a place that interests me...it goes into the folder.

Over the years, I have managed to do some of the things and visit some of the places and cross them off the list.....but the folder still keeps on growing!

The poor old folder....labelled "My Bucket List" is now almost bursting at the seams...but at last....I am going to work my way through it!!!

I will keep you all posted as I travel.

I smiled when I read your list Beth....cos' a couple of my "things to do" are the same as yours....to go up in a hot air balloon (I don't like heights either)...and to drive across the Nullabor....I want to go for WA wildflower time.

Also....at some point in my travels....I hope to stub my toe on a large black opal at lightning ridge smile biggrin smile biggrin

I want to learn to play a musical instument....okay....I'll park a loooong way away from everyone smile

I would also like to visit the Greek Islands.

p.s. Rosie, my study is already tidy....so that's another thing that I can cross off the list :)

Cheers.

After due consideration I have come to the conclusion that if I had a wish list I would never fullfill it.
Having said that, I have had a great life with many adventures and I will still live life enjoying what ever I do
and doing whatever I can.
