Hi Ma - did you get to visit any farm gates yet?? I have my addresses printed hope we get to a few, found out where to go to get huge oysters fresh of the rocks - friends have just been. Can't wait 10 more sleeps till we start off.
Haven't been able to do any of the farmgate stuff yet Jan with one thing and another but hope to do some in the coming weeks.
Make sure you bring your thermals, snow forcast for the next three days but might all be gone by the time you get here but it can change from hour to hour so be prepared.
If you go anywhere near Hamilton there is a bakery there in an old building and they make the BEST pies we have had so far here in Tassie.
A good variety, beautiful light pastry and chock a block full of fillings.;

ps
its still bloody cold so pack your thermals
Thank will do - down at Bruny Isle is where they are I would have thought it nice and clean down there but I will check for any sewers etc.
Make sure you stop at Christmas Hill Rasberry farm, near Elizabeth Town on the way back to the ferry. A bit expensive but worth it............. Love them Rasberries,
Scallop pies - heaven, I will definitely be in Tassie next year. Hey Blaze I sent you a pm wondering when you will be back in Perth. Ah oysters off the rocks. Reminds me of my prawn trawler days in the Gulf and FNQ when we would pull up at a deserted island in the middle of nowhere and snorkel and grab beautiful oysters straight off the rocks.

There's a nice little bakery between Electrona and Snug, his pies, including, scallop pies are to die for.
The Snug caravan park is in a delightful spot and handy for a number of places, also the little general store in Snug, run by a Korean family, has the best take away food.
There chips ($2 a bag)are dry and crisp and each day they do a Korean menu.
Mermaid Cafe at the Bruny Island Ferry Terminal is another diners delight, pricing is slightly higher than what you would expect, but the service and food is equal to the task.
I think Ma has a tinnie with them, therefore Snug would be the go.
Flathead by the tonne.
Also around the Hobart area and out towards Sorrel, there are a number of Rasberry and Strawberry farms, where you can either self pick or just buy.
Cheers
Dusty

We bought some of the best tomatoes I've ever tasted from a roadside stall, but cant remember the exact place.... somewhere on the highway that goes thru Oatlands is my best guess. Sorry. But theres roadside stalls in lotsa places, some selling fruit/veg, others pickles etc.
Cherrys are in season at the moment, at a small place at Kelso near my turf their big fat juicy sweet and $6 a kilo so I stuff my face every day with them I have planted some trees myself with the intention of planting a lot more
