Fuel Price ripoff

furious have just seen LPG at Woolworths Penrith with a price tag of 69.9 CPL and both BP and 7/11 close by at 62.9 CPL so much for the Woolworths 8 cents per litre discount think I might start shopping at local Super IGA.

Purchased LPG last week in Penrith for 55.9 CPL now up by 14cpl in less than a weekfuriousfuriousfurious

I thought woolies did not give discount on LPG, we use gas all the time at home and we never get the discount at woolies

The only place where I have found that Woolworths servos dont give discount on LPG was in Perth near the airport, would be interested to know the area you are talking about.

Yep.. any wonder so many people are travelling overseas for holidays instead of exploring australia. By the time you factor in fuel to tow your van you may as well go somewhere more exotic for less.

Yeah, but once you go and come back, that's it.  At least with the van you can keep on going.  But yes I can see why people would go overseas as you said.

furiousfurious YEP !!! It's a Ripoff, It will get a LOT worse when the coles/woolies, finally force All the Independents out of the Industry. and believe me, it is not that far off, and when they are gone, That's when the battle will really begin with Coles and Woolies battling for your Fuel $$$$

They will still offer the shoppers the fuel discount[ LOL ] dockets but at a price that they will set without having to compete with the independents

I work in the Fuel distribution game in Victoria, And down here, Once they can get rid of companies like APCO and UNITED FUELS. then they will have open slather on setting the price [ so 4cents a ltr off ''WHAT'' ?? ]

for Protection we still have OUR GOVERMENT WATCHDOG noyawndisbeliefconfuse LOL

With the world demand on Oil, and the Fuel supply Agenda of Coles and Woolies, things can only get worse, a lot worse.

That is one of the reasons that i am a duel/fuel mainly Lpg man and will remain one, at the moment it still tows my van for a few more litres, but a lot less $$$$

Sorry, hard day at work today, so i had to have a Little Rant ? I feel better now,  Rgs dazren

I am with you Dazren, I tow a 20ft van with a 4.5 ltr dual fuel Patrol, I find it is cheaper than most diesel 4x4s to run, I hope to upgrade this year to a later model 4.8 ltr. Patrol but the only difference is that I will be fitting the new Liquid Gas Injection system

Its easy to give what ever discount they want, 4 ,8 , 50c , because its al ready being incorperated into their prices , they give nothing away.

I;ve given woolworths away, the media have it right when they stated the poorer towns get the rubish & the rich areas get all the fresh fruit & veg.Have seen this in our travells many times.

Have a look at their servo's , very small so getting in & out with a van is extremely tight. Check where the sighns are for what fuel is in which drive way, the sighns are at ground level, not up at eye level so with traffic they cannot be seen.

I've asked them why they are so, wollies say its caltex's place to fit the sighns & caltex say its woolies job, so neither can do a simple job .

Its also easy to get into their supermarket, different thing getting out. Bottle shops under verious names all with different prices, local IGA beats our woolies & BWS , yep they have two in a small town.

Coles do use existing shell servo's that have reasonable access. Never have to wait in a que at the local supermarket.

I so agree with dazren - when all is said and done it's only a couple of dollers per tank saving, isn't it worth it to keep our independants I NEVER buy woolies or coles petrol. Same goes for milk I will never ever buy their $2 for 2 litres. In our region dairy farmers are walking left right and centre. We have been to Japan where milk comes in tiny precious glass bottles and I'm sure they only put it on the table for us lucky Aussies that take these things for granted. Sorry Iv'e had a rant too I probably won't stop the take over I know, But I won't support it either.

Interesting.

Cannot comment on LPG, however in our area:-

Within 2km we have a Coles, Woolies, APCO, BP, and was a Mobile now a 7 Eleven, servos.

Prices for Diesel is almost the same for all the servos, and has been for a long while. So for spending your $30/whatever to get some of your basic weekly supplies why not get the discount at Coles or Woolies servos?

100 litre fill can mean up to $10 in my pocket with a 10c/L discount ie 1/3 of a $30 block of beer, 10 cans in real terms.

Petrol

Coles & Woolies non discount price is always at least a cent or two cheaper than APCO and Mobile/now a 7 Eleven.

The BP is always around 5 cents dearer than APCO and Mobile/now a 7 Eleven.

Somethings we all just have to purchase at the Coles/Woolies Supermarkets. Reviewing their Specials one can make some considerable savings on everyday items.

It does not take much to rack up $30 or so on a few everyday items in a Supermarket to qualify for the discount. Nowadays even $100 is easy to spend for a weekly/fortnightly shop in the supermarket.

All us little people can do is play the game and shop around for Supermarket specials, and buy fuel when the cycle is at its weekly low point using the Supermarket discount.

No doubt the over all the price of fuel, particularly Diesel which a few years back was always much cheaper than Petrol, is a rip off.

smileWe dont have a passport either and have no intention of getting one I believe there is so much to see and do in Australia, If you compare prices other than advertised specials both Coles and Woolworths are dearer than Aldi and IGA and the local Aldi is about to start selling Alcohol as well and this gives far better value than a fuel docket so for us its definitely bye bye Woolworths and Coles confuseconfuse

Hi we run on gas pretty well all of the time. was $1.99cpl on the nullabor 3 months ago but we all know what we are going to pay there. You can get a BP discount card for 4 cpl off, don't have to spend any money like Woolies etc, i have only had 3 servos not let me use it 1 in Adelaide, 1 in Mackay 1 in Longreach, even when they have discounts on you can still use it, just ask at any servo & they will give you one. Cheers

And this is because of the coles woolies campaign to force the local independent out of the game.

I don't blame you for saving the $$$$ on your big fill, for $30 i would probaly do the same, HOWEVER !!! When they do [and they will ] force out your local Apco, do you think the same savings are still going to be available, [ i doubt it ! ] and the discount docket will revert back to the normal 0.4cents per litre. off the price they Now choose to charge you

It's a fact, it will happen, we cannot stop it, So i don't blame anyone for making a saving Now,  Just pointing out that for every dollar you save today, you will be giving back to them 5 times over, in the near future

This said !!! please keep buying fuel from wherever you want, as long as people buy it , it has to be transported, and as long as it needs to be transported, then i know my job is secure.  Rgs dazren

I know this really sucks as we live in Gympie and often see family or go shopping on coast so I have taken to filling up at Shell Panorama just south of Nambour if I am going down any ways. There should be a current affair program on it evileyebiggrin
