Way back in Feb 2000 we did a quickie round Tassie in the Patrol staying in various accomodation. At Stanley we chose a motel that had a resturant looking out towards the nut.
Tried a mutton bird from a local take away shop .. my first & last. The local overweight dog was waiting for me to chuck it .. he gobbled it down in a flash. Probably accounted for his weight problem.
Loved the little beach/cove just to the west of the Nut.
SWMBO keeps saying that we aught to do Tassie again in the van. Its on the list .. wish we were there now.
And what a lovely day in stanley today, went to see a mate, back to smithton to pick up a spark plug for a lawn mower and found a young kookaburra that had been hit by a car. So then drove halfway to burnie to deliver it to animal rescue but sadly it was dead on arival. Thought it may only had a broken wing but ended up being busted up inside. cheers blaze
Ma while you are in Stanley, check to see if the bloke running the Platypus and Penguin tour is still operating. We went with him to see platypus on somebody's farm at sunset, then back to town in the dark with his special torch and the penguins walked between us on their way back to their nests for the night... on the seaward side of the Nut. He was really knowledgable and enthusiastic, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Enjoy your BBQ tonight you guys!

Now wondering wether blue will go fishing like planned, 7am wasnt it. Great night and we had to depart eary on in the night. I have eaten fish blue asured us was fresh (any fresher and it would have still been flapping), so he can catch them. Good to meet up with florinhill and wife who turn out to be neibours of friends we do annual camping trips with and a phone call to that friend was the cause of some amusement.. Great time had by all and will meet up again in the future. Now to get all last minute things sorted for our departure back to Perth, melbourne monday and perth wednesday. Had a real enjoyable time at home catching up with family, friends (old and new) but getting itchy feet. cheers blaze
