This is an extract from an email received recently from his wife Robyn;
"Sadly there is no further news as to his whereabouts and as it has now just gone 9 weeks since the 13th November I have to say that my glimmer of hope for his safe return has now all but gone.
There has not been even one further clue that we can follow up.
I have had a huge map on the dining room table here at home for quite some weeks and only last week I completed this with a few more areas and have now put this away, awaiting for collection by Missing Persons.
To everyone who has been out there searching I cannot begin to thank you enough. It is not that the searching has come to an end, it is more a case of. just where do we look now?
The bush is such a huge area and there are so many tracks to cover, one cannot even begin to follow each and every one of them. And I know though, there are those that are still continuing to search, for this I thank you with all my heart.
It would appear that finding Rod will now be what is called a chance find. My only hope is that this will be soon so that we can all just take that small step forward."

Its good also that you pop up with that link at frequent intervals to just jog memories and make new members aware .. with all our travels and contacts around Oz its a good option mate.
Thanks for your concerns and support and please keep a lookout for him and his vehicle as many of you have been doing, although I think they are now fearing the worst and it is just a matter of time before he is located in a remote spot somewhere.
He did not take his wallet or bank cards etc and his bank account has remained untouched, so not good.
Will keep you posted if anymore info etc.

Robyn is one of the nicest people you could meet Elle and is a retired renal nurse, she is also a triple kidney recipient (two previous transplants failed) and in addition to anti rejection drugs, stress is not good for her condition.
I hope she gets some answers soon of whatever kind so she has something to go on.

Sorry Gerty, didn't mean to get you excited having no news about finding Rod but lets hope it won't be too much longer one way or the other, here is a bit more from Robyn's email I received, I am sure she wouldnt mind me posting it pretty well shows some of how it is affecting her;
"The days for me are all so different with so many emotions often taking over my whole being. I never know how I will be from one day to the next and sometimes from one hour to the next.
There is one thing for sure, I have a never ending list of things to do and if just one thing can be accomplished without me being distracted then that is a good day."

I wasn't aware of that, you know what that area is like having been there it would be a tinder box waiting to happen. I had considered if the Lake area caught fire when I was up there I would encourage people to jump into the lake and use the moored pontoon as a heat shield on the sheltered side.
When I was down the south/west last week (especially Shannon NP) I couldn't help but notice how dry it was (moved your foot and you got covered in dust) and the amount of fuel (leaves/branches etc) laying on the ground. I'd hate to be there if it does ignite.

It was bad when I was there...water level was lowest ever.....and after I'd backed my van in, boofhead pushed the big boulder back with the tractor so if there was an emergency, I would not have been able to get out. I told him to move it !!

Water level is ok now Dunco, they've had a lot of rain up there.
Yes, "you know who" got the tractor bogged in the lake while I was there, he was pulling out logs.......
