It's been a close to perfect SE Queensland winter's day today.
Woke up to blue sky, just cool enough to encourage us to stay in bed till circa 9am. The temp managed to get up to around 22 at our place with a very mild breeze.
I should be out by a riverbank in the van (he says once again).
Hamelin Bay..., it's yet another cold winter front swinging through. Crikey..., they're like ice cold spokes on a bicycle wheel..., swinging past every day now. Coming to an west coast near you SA, Tassy and Victoria...., in a few days.

AHHH..., no terriwa. I canned the idea till the numbers up there reduce substantially. Heard a story of cars w caravans, ordinary vehicles and vans full of backpackers, all in a line and backed up down the side of the highway at Billabong, just waiting fuel up. Numbers were big. Plus, everywhere is booked out so many less organised people are having to park up in any little bush track they can find. Ive got some spy's up there who'll let me know if/when the numbers move on. I suppose when it starts warming up - "it's then that those louses will go back to their houses !" The way things are going in Indo, I'm wondering if Bali will ever open up again ? Meanwhile down here in Hamelin Bay, there's just another day's front with 100kmh + gusts sliding by..., on it's way out into the Southern Ocean..., and thence on to SA and Tassy. Meanwhile, I'll keep the home fires burning....., Ho Hum !

Just traveled back to coast near Nowra . Hell COLD after spending two months in North Queensland, Lake Tinaroo, Ball bay beach , Kinchant Dam , lake Proserpine. Back to help a fella with chemo, cancer . XXXX
We have just had 10 inches of rain in the last 8 hours. We all are currently getting a new sewerage system fitted to our town. The new tanks have all popped up out of the ground, over 50 of them so far. Our one as well, as well as it is a quagmire in the yard where they were working on Thursday last. Even my pavers are popping up, and they have been laid for 20 years. It's just that we have had massive amounts of rain in the last 4 months, that the ground is thoroughly saturated. And today's rain is only the start for the next 14 days of rain. I can see our river the Gwydir, breaking it's banks, and maybe water going over the flood wall at Copeton dam downstream. This will be the wettest this area has been in 17 years when we had 3 major floods, over 2 weeks.

All this rain is OK, its not seeing the sun that is getting to me. Cloud, rain, cloud, rain etc. I hope the gum tree that has been there for 100yrs doesn't fall.
Burnett heads 300 mil in a week and last 2 days poured day and night my beautiful green lawn is all a mess ive had to dig trenches for run off .we are told more to come
My guess is we are probably up to 330 mil now
Cant do a thing till it dries out but im sure there are a lot worse off then myself so im grateful that im not flooded in .
Stay safe everybody :)
We have had a lot of rainy days but not too heavy & no flooding in our area (Brisbane).
Lawn is growing madly but too wet to mow.
My vege garden is going gangbusters with beans & cucumbers at their peak. Unfortunately the Zucchini's are getting too much water & rotting. They'll be right when the sun comes out.
Temperature is 22 degrees ATM ... beautiful for the last day of Spring. Just hope that summer is not too hot (or humid).
At Kangaroo Is its around 14 with a feels like of 7.
bloody horrendous
its supposed to be summer so i suppose it will be 40 plus next week
its colder than tassie.
if i wasnt meeting relos here in a few days, id be gone
A cooler day than we have been accustomed to. 31.7 at present with 75% humidity.
Sun is shining , but going to get wet soon.
Caretaking Moreton Telegraph Station, Cape York.
The 'Low' off shore is forecast to become TC Tiffany & cross the Cape within the next couple of days. Forecast as to where it will cross has moved southward away from us.
Have been watching with interest as initially as much as 525mm accumulated rainfall in the Wenlock catchment was forecast. We have the boat tied up alongside the house.
However the forecast has now reduced that figure to a bit over 100mm if the Cyclone crosses further south (as in the path shown in this latest chart).
Neverthless we have been moving machinery to high(er) ground today just in case
I feel like a piece of battered fish without the chips this morning as boy did we cop a battering last night. Torrential rain with thunder and lightning, damaging wind and even a couple of fires and road accidents, here in N E VIC. Here at base camp around the Wangaratta/Benalla area we even had a power outage for 6 hours. I am glad I have a 3 way fridge when things like that happen. The fridge in the teepee was changed to gas and the camp freezer under awning was on 12v anyway so all good in the fridge/freezer department. Luckily no damage to my aluminium teepee or Collie but the van a couple of sites away were not as lucky. Flooded in the annex and in van as well. All that in just 45mins.
Yep, a rough 45mins. From all reports all of VIC coped a battering.
Keep Safe out there all.

You beat me to it Chief, very similar here in Lavington, thunder lightning rain from all directions somehow, 47mm in less than an hour from 9.30pm. Just a brief blip of power out, but ABC TV out for 20 min or so, enough to lose the plot. 85% feewmidity this morning, worse than Qld from my memory.
