Forget to mention in the annex thread that I lost me bleeding hat in the wind. Now I am wearing my dress hat and Therese wanted to know where I found this one (well its my dress hat ya know and only comes out when required), it has traveled quietly in a dusty shelf in my old disco. My dress hat would be the best part of 20 years or more old. Now back to the hat in question, well its my every day hat (not that its worn every day), well its probable at least 30 years old. Now this hat has been some places (even a few without me), its been used the odd time to give a horse or a dog a drink, kept the sun off my head, used to keep the daylight from my eyes after a heavy night and above all it has never spoken out of turn (or told secrets). So it seems old faithful has taken flight in the wind so I am hoping that it will forgive me the years of abuse and return.

cheers

blaze

Good luck with that. It's a bugger to lose your favourite hat. To get the right one to fit correctly and do the job is a challenge, and now your favourite hat is gone.
I hope your "dress hat" serves the purpose until the bleeding hat is replaced.

Perhaps we could start a competition. If you find a hat you think could be Blaze's hat or a hat you think might be a good substitute hat. Take a photo and post it. Blaze might take on a whole new persona with a new hat.

Well, what about these two then?

(I have lost that many favorite hats, mostly battered and floppy (like me) but I loved them, and also next would be sun glasses).

Sad to loose a favourite hat  ..  I can clearly recall the much loved ex-policeman's hat (won't tell you how I came by it) but it was a favourite of mine from age 18 to about 25 when my then new wife threw it out!!   Despite this, we are still married after 34 years.
ps. She did something similar to my lovely black 'pork pie' hat too.  And that was only 30 yrs ago .. but I remember.

It was probably the trauma of the dumped hat that has lead to me having something of a hat fettish (she says).

Here's a few ...

The first pic has a slightly younger me on the left modeling the lamented Policeman's hat

The second is my now favourite. A retired Akubra.

The third is but just a small sample of the current collection. (Two Akubras, an RM Williams Stockmans show give away, a beaut garden/fishing hat, the anti sunburn kayak cap, a Karumba brag cap & an oiled cap that goes with the Dri-as- a bone.)
