Rain!

I hope you are all safe and dry, as I am, but I thought I would put the rainfall in perspective. At my friends house on Magnetic island, they have had 6.5 inches, 165mm of rain since 9am friday, and its still pouring down. This is the reason I hit the track at this time of year as normally  this will continue til April or so.As soon as someone says Cyclone, everybody who can, throws their hands up , and leaves. It doesn,t seem the same rain down here, but its definately cooler, which is great to me as its usually hot and humid when the rain stops in NQ. I feel for the people who are affected by floods and the monsoon, and hopeThey are safe, and it STOPS! Bill

Thanks for that info Bill. I am heading up to Townsville in April I will arrive 20th and leave 25th. I sure hope it has settled down by then. I do feel for all up that way though, my oldest Daughter and her family live in Deeragun and I will be staying in Rollingstone. I saw the caravan park advertised on TV over xmas when I was up there. The room at her house I sleep in will be taken over by a new Granddaughter that will be with us by then. Keep safe in your travels Bill. We might be able to meet when I'm up there if you are home by then. Having my own car is going to make a lot of difference.

Rollingstone is a lovely place, though the moosies can be a problem, and there are many great places reasonabley close. The bridge on little Crystal ck is great for a swim and to cool down. Further up the range, Paluma is on top of teh range in real rainforest, and the the tearooms are good , if open.Rollingstone creek is good fishing, and the barra season starts on Feb1 at midday.I live on Magnetic island, so if you want a day trip, I should be back by then. Give me a pm. Bill

Hey Bill12 - glad to hear you are having a good time - stay dry, and enjoy the cool. Have you adjusted to daylight saving time yet - it gets confusing, especially when you are around the Qld/NSW border - lose track completely.
Have fun!

I've stayed at that park at Rollingstone a couple of times. It's a well run park and very nice there.  It's about 8ks (north) from Rolly village and pub.
