Blood Donor Thanks

Hi All

I have just read the thread started by Gerard about blood donors and did not want this thanks lost at the end of the thread. To all those off the GN,s that have given blood a sincere thank you.

Last week I found myself in Bundaberg Base Hospital with a extreme lack of "Platlettes"in my blood . it appear I may have blood cancer and I am to attend Brisbane Royal asap for a bone marrow aspiration.

What a bumer just 3 weeks after my retirement and so many adventures still to have. They gave me 2 unit of someones blood which gives me temporary cover until i get to Brissie, so once again thanks to all you blood donors. It was a good vintage by the way !!!!

Sorry to hear your news Tim.  I am sure they will be able to help you and the outcome will be very positive.  My mother has been living with a form of blood cancer for many years now so it's not all doom and gloom when the word "cancer" is thrown into the equation.

All the best and hope to meet you one day.

Cheers

Yes hope you get good news. As for the bone marrow aspiration. It is a fairly simple procedure, at worst a bit uncomfortable, but not what I would call painful. I had one last year.

Thanks Bill

I think I must have missed you on the way down, I spent a lot of time in Brisbane over Christmas. Understand the barra are very shy at the moment and the dam has become the dam of several thousand casts.

Very best wishes Tim, they are pretty good at fixing things now, get that thingy done in Bris and it wont be long before you are out travelling as planned.

Yep, blood donors are fantastic! Mr D has been a donor for many years, made over 40 donations but had to stop a few years ago.

Sorry about that health hiccup. I hope it all comes out well at the other end of all the tests and medical intervention. Medical science fascinates me these days.
I can't give blood because it makes my blood pressure go hay-wire. Maybe one day I'll get the nerve to try to do it again.
All the best to you.
This getting old thing has got knobs on it. The longer we're here the more our body puts us through, and we don't know enough about this bag of bones we sit in.
I know more about my car and caravan than I do about me.
