I used to, I used, and still have a Minelab 2100. A very good detector still widely used today although there are more, later model more sensitive ones now on the market.
I don't get out anymore so if someone offered me $2000 I would part with it.
Cheers Neil

Hi, We used to do dectecting each winter in WA , but sold every thing last year, You wouldnt want anything lower than a Minelab 4000, Think they are around the $4000 mark.We both had 4500 and mono coils. Quad bike ect. Its fun but hard work.... Get all the facts first before you step out, they get very wild if you do the wrong thing in the west...good luck Bob N Bev

Hi, I dont go gold prospecting but I do have a lot of fun in parks and on beaches using my Garrett Ace 250 and to date have found considerable number of coins etc, friends who do go gold prospecting say it can be very frustrating and it is expensive to set up, they use Minelab equipment which is Australian made.

I've used a US Army mine detector before, found heaps of metal bits and bobs with it (none of it gold), but most productive was with the kids down the beach on a Sunday evening.
