I always try to watch that Vic, think I might have missed a couple. He does have some good hints and seems to enjoy himself. Somerone could do a series for Aus.
That really takes me back to when I went to America and bought an old VW campervan and toured for about six months. Visited Canada to the north and Mexico to the south and had a great time. Sold the van when I left and immediately bought another VW campervan when I returned to Australia. I was hooked. Since then have been on the road whenever I could and seen more of our beautiful country. Was sorry I sold the camper and now have itchy feet once more and looking to do some more travelling in Oz in the near future. It's a great life on the road. June

Got to love the nostalgia of the old campers. I'm kicking myself now that I didn't go and look at a very dilapidated old fibreglass Murrumba Star caravan I saw locally last year. It would have made a fantastic shell to base a lightweight mini caravan on for towing up the beach for long weekend camps. My dad used to sell Murrumba Star caravans up in Ipswich back in the late 60's to early 70's, and I remember we took one of these to a local show in Ipswich as part of the then, current range. It was a Mini Star (I think it was called) with Linda Star as a slide on version at the time, which was also my younger sisters name. It still had that fresh resin smell to it and the odd few stray bits of fibre floating about in it which made you itch if you got it on you. I was about 16 at the time and second eldest of 5. It was us kids job to keep the vans clean between the prospective customers traipsing through them, also to demonstrate the features of each of the vans when there were too many customers for Mum and Dad to handle (well for the older three of us, Linda was only about 12 at the time)

It did remind me of Yeoeleven, he would make a good candidate for a series. We could include more characters from GN's in the series, Marj, Jonathan and Billeeee come to mind plus a few others.
That's interesting stuff Troopy, thanks, although a small van double wheels and all, love all the old historical vans etc.
Welcome to the forum June and keep posting! We have a campervan hiring place in Rockingham in WA called "Go Campers" who has a couple of old VW kombi campervns (done up and in good condition) in their range of campervans for hire for enthusiasts, see;
We go to the VW show at Burswood (WA) every year, great turnout always meet lot of new people and see some great vans. Even drove across to Valla (NSW) to go to a show there!! Mad! but fun.
Hi Milo, I think it was 2000 kms over a period to that point. Funny my missus said the same thing as you, but they don't have a huge island continent like we do in Oz so everything is a lost closer to get to
Seeing all those old combi's together like that was fantastic.
