We recently had another landline outage due to consistant wet weather, this has happened four times in the last 12 mths.
So reported as usual , they set up a forward of incomming calls to the mobile at their expense. This last time I requested mobile calls during this outage to be charged at landline rates due to the constant outages, they agreed.
For three days we had to use mobile as needed, not that this was a lot. My instinct was to keep a record of the calls just in case. Yep, you gused it , got the acc, & we were charged for the mobile calls at mobile rates, not a happy camper.
Back on the blower to sort this out, they wiped the mobile charges altogether. A good result but why do we have to stand over them all the time to get thing done correct.

JC at least they do do something when you finally get through to a real person! Service and keeping promises is not the way business works anymore, Do it and see who complains is the way it goes now. imagine how much they would make out of the ones that dont have the time to sit on hold long enough to get it reversed - A bucket load of money! and money is what its all about these days!
I agree with PeterS - there must be 100s out there who don't check and follow up and so that money is all 'kept' as profit. It pays to keep a close watch on bills. I had an issue when the 'free local calls' that they promised continued to be billed for over 5 months despite my phone calls to point out the error. By keeping a record of all names and dates and times that I made the phone complaints I was able to get very prompt response when I finally called the Telco Ombudsman. So when making a complaint or reporting an error always keep note of who you are speaking to and when and why. My complaint only involved a small amount of money but it was the broken promise that I was not happy with. I was credited with more than they owed me in the end.
Isn't it amazing Whilst Canberra is fighting one another the rest of the Country is being ripped off left right and Centre.....Who's supposed to be protecting us from the parasites of Australia.
It is the General feel up here in Darwin amongst the Locals as well...( If one can find somebody who speaks English that is)

If they can get away with it they will. If we complain and let them know they've been caught out, they then act to fix it. It's a terrible way to treat customers, but we are subjected to greedy corporations these days, and the customer who keeps the fat cats fat don't count in the big scheme of things. No wonder we get cynical. Who does look after the little people?

I'll keep squeaking as long as I believe I can do something to change things for the little people. My years as a journo taught me how to get in the "back door" to keep those hinges squeaking. It does certainly pay to speak up, and if you can do anything to change the situation which allowed the rip off to happen in the first place, just do it. Those who sit at home and believe that's the way it is and do nothing, will achieve exactly that - nothing. So folks, boys and girls, keep squeaking on behalf of the little people. Policies and rules are made by people who are not affected by the rules they make. It's up to us to show them we won't take it lying down. So, stand up and keep squeaking.
