Just back from a trip around the block. Have decided to go to Karumba and do a spot of fishing. Can anyone advise on best size tinny, boatloader and foldup trailer to purchase to suit our trusty old 100 series Landcruiser?
Your avatar has made me homesick for Broome Stevo. I'm sure the blokes will be able to give you all the info you need. All I know is you don't need a big tinny 12-14ft. Just watch the crocs up that way. Get that barra into the boat quickly. Good luck.

Agree with Dunco 100%. We have a 390 Explorer/Custom Boat Loader/20hp Honda 4 stroke and are extremely happy. Bought the whole package from Cameron at Custom Boat Loaders.

Thanks everyone for your advice and to Cruising Granny, yes, we also loved Broome. It is certainly a very special place as is Barn Hill Station which is just south of Broome. We believe the custom boat loader is the best one. We guess that fuel consumption is higher with the boat on top but is it anything significant? With regard to a foldup trailer, where is the preferred place to mount it?
I also would love to take a car topper around with me, as I said in a previous thread. Dunco, can you get away without a trailer. Do you get access to most places with cruiser, and just unload straight into water. Stevo, people have also given me a grilling on Crocks. Sorry for breaking into your thread.
Fuel consumption did go up a couple of litres per hundred...but I am out there to enjoy myself so I don't worry about that part of it.
Although I shouldn't, my trailer fits on the rear van bar...no probs. You may have an option to fit it on the front A frame...not sure of your van.
And Kiwi, yes, you can (and I have) unloaded it straight into the water. Takes a little longer and if you are at a boat ramp, they get a little narky with the time taken...hahaha If I am staying anywhere longer than 2 days, I will put it on the trailer as it makes life easier all around.
Boat takes about 20 minutes to unload fully and head off Boat and trailer takes a little less than an hour fiddling around and chatting to people
I'm with you Dunco. Where's the enjoyment of this nomad stuff if you're watching the fuel guage and the $'s all the time. You can either do this within a budget or you can't. If you can't don't go. I think the tinny on the rack on the roof would be less drag to run than my sign on the roof. I know I'm getting paid to have that sign on the roof, but when there's a head wind I really have to know where the next roadhouse is. I haven't had to syphon from the truck yet, but there may come a day. I get about 6ks to the litre with sign up, head wind at 100 KPH. The truck sets the pace and that depends on what is carried and the weight.
PS. I love Barn Hill too. Great people, nice place.
