A very sad day today a local policeman loss his life in line of duty was shot and lost his life ....Bring its home that we are no longer a small country town but a city and have to expect that this could become part of our life as our city grows ....My thought and heartfelt symphathy are with his family wife and 6 children and his friends

That policeman was only doing his job, which is to uphold the laws of society, that society is US THE PEOPLE, not only did this SCUM kill a hardworking family man, with a wife, children, mother, father, brothers, sisters, and a whole lot of relatives and friends. The bast-d also had no regard for society's rules that are supposed to keep us all safe
It's not just the policemans life, just think about the pain and suffering his family, relatives, and friends are going through right now.
And this SCUM no doubt will not face the charges for a year or so, when all this emotion has died down, fancy [ legal aid ] Lawyers, will plead his case, bad childhood, drug addicted, not responsible, is so sorry, etc, etc,
then he will get say ?? 10 years gaol, and be out in 5, I do not really know what I think of the death penalty, BUT I do know here in Victoria we have a few MASS MURDERERS, that should not be allowed to walk on this earth, they should have got a death penalty, and I believe anyone who kills a police officer, whilst they are in the line of duty, should either get the death penalty, or at least be gaoled for the term of natural life.
These policeman are out there protecting US '' THE SOCIETY'' but what is ''SOCIETY'' doing to protect the Police. absolutely nothing,
we should ALL write to our Local Goverment Member, demanding that the Laws and Penalties should be increased to a level that if anyone kills a policeman whilst he is in the performance of his duties, then that person would know, that life as he new it, was gone forever !! and he would be a very old man before he walked out that gaol door.
Sorry to rant and rave on a bit, But this makes me very, very angry.
Regards dazren.
PS. MY SINCERE THOUGHT AND CONDOLENCES TO HIS FAMILY and FRIENDS. R.I.P.
Bring back respect and manners. What I want to know is, WHO LET THE DOGS OUT? These mongrel dogs who have no regard for law and society. The laws are too soft. This mongrel has probably been in trouble with the law before, and some soft-brained magistrate let him loose to do it all again, and to take the life of a Policeman. Toughen up!!!

You are right there Lily, it is not only the family and friends, that it effects, It is all decent community focused human beings, and although it may not seem it at times, That is what the Majority of us are !!
It's just a matter of HOW can we get the authorities to listen to the majority, and make our streets safe again. I have a brother in the force here in Victoria. and the Restrictions put on them from doing there job just not fair, there are some places around here, in the so called ''lower'' social economic area's That youths as young as 13 and 14 go out and steal cars then Go looking for the police, to goad them into a police chase. they know that once they get to a certain speed, the police Must abandon the chase '' for safety reasons, and the ones who do get caught, Never get punished,
Look at the statistics, in all our States ?? the police DO catch the majority of offenders, But it's the court system that puts them back on the street to harrass, rob, steal, bash, injure, or kill again, and why !!!! because of the $$$$$$$$$$ It is to expensive to lock them up, the gaols are full, and they do not want to build any more,
And what about the rest of our Police, emergency workers etc, etc, and not to mention the general public, WELL we are '' collateral damage''

And if they do get locked up it costs the taxpayer a heap to keep them in prison where they, the prisoner have far more rights and benefits than a pensioner or any one else for that matter.

Are we becoming desensitised by these crimes? Are we getting apathetic and resigned to the fact it will happen. Little country town and community, or the anonimity of the city and suburbs - this should not be happening. Every morning there's a report of a shooting - Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Tamworth. It affects everyone. Not just the victim of the crime, but the family of the victim, the family of the offender, and the neighbourhood. The a-hole who perpetrated this tragedy has a family who is probably beside themselves with anxiety, frustration, guilt, anger, fear and shame. They didn't raise their son to do this. Yet the community may be blaming them for the way they raised this person. We can't blame the parents. This person made a conscious decision to get a gun and shoot up the town, killing people in the process. The whole town is affected by one selfish act for the rest of their lives. I'm the mother of a drug-addicted 30 year old brat. She's been in juvenile detention and jail. I didn't raise her to behave in such a violent, antisocial manner to get herself arrested. I raised her to be a respectful, well-mannered, smart, responsbile, kind, thoughful, happy person, and she can be. But when she gets in one of her violent outbursts, take cover. Her choices.

This shooting in our town will change many people live's forever the family /friends and work colleague's of this policeman and the shooter family as welll ....who are probably as shocked as the rest of the town are ..
The people who were there first to see the carnage ...
And the innocent people who were going about there business in theirs home when this shooting happen in there front yards ..How do you handle that what you have seen.....I know the area well and there is a lots of elderly people and young family's who live there .... How do these every day people put this nightmare behind them and go one with their's live's .....And all because a person had no regard for the law or other people was carrying a gun and use it to end a life ....

what a very sad day i too saw that on the news ,not only step up on these people that are killing others and policemen but step it up anyway because ,its now becoming where people know and think oh well if i kill that person im only going to serve 2 to 3 years so why not ?.
Australias rules are rediculous just like there prisons, they get more than our average person has in there home ,a gym, a tv a dvd (probably the latest blue ray one too ) three meals a day ,smokes, and nobody can tell me they dont get drugs ive seen and heard it too many times of people smuggling drugs in to there mates.
One thing i hate hearing is when someone has taken a precious life and then they serve zilch compared to what they have done to the persons families friends, lovers, its a disgrace but to be honest i dont think it will ever change it shall only get worse .
Indeed a sad time for the his family. As a former soldier that poem posted by JRH is appropiate for this gallant policeman whose life has been lost in the line of duty.
We have to realise that these types of events, and similar, have been happening since day dot. They will keep on happening and we will never ever stop them.
What this thread should be about is the loss of a fine Officer, father and human.
Don't worry about the scum of society, just have a thought for Senior Constable Rixon and the family and friends he left behind.
Today was indeed a sad day in Tamworth, I attended David Rixons funeral as a member of the emergency services. David was stationed in my home town for a while until the HWP were consolidated at Tamworth.
This is the biggest funeral I have ever attended, the honour guard stretched for 500m along both sides of the road.
As the commissioner said in his eulogy 'March 2nd was the day Tamworth lost it's innocence' along with a dedicated protector of our society.
He also said David Rixon will not be forgotten and I know from talking to his workmates that is so true.
I am still feeling the sorrow from today so will sign off for now
