Hi everyone, when staying in national parks do you have to use a tent or can you get to them easy enough with a ford sedan and a caravan? also what is the longest you can stay? thanks. rocket n strop
It varies Rocket n Strop, we've had our caravan into some, took the tent in to some, and others were walk-in only carriing your back pack. Most States publish a Parks book which will tell you what if any facilities there are, what the tracks are like, and how much their fees are. Even though they are called National Parks they are State run/controlled it seems.
all depends on the NP best you phone them prior to going there, whichever one it is or State
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Geeez wombat, you have been giving sensible advice on here lately, and i am sure it is most appreciated.
But where has the mischievious, cheeky wombat gone ??? It's getting hard to get a laugh on this forum, don't let vic scare you off [ lol ]
I assume this is THE ORIGINAL wombat, as the post code is the same

Why spoil posts with rubbish and take them off topic. Far from polite or considerate towards others and rude to the original poster seeking valid information or advice.

Here is the website for info on camping in some NPs.
We have found there is enormous variety between National Parks. As a generalization, many of the better/more popular parks are quite accessible for vans and conventional cars. The campground at Warrumbungle NP (NSW) even has powered sites, so does the one at Mt Field NP (Tasmania), and at Wilpena in the Flinders Ranges. Even where access is via gravel road, it may be well maintained and quite ok for your vehicle. As you travel, word of mouth from other travellers will be a guide, as will info from local Visitor Information Centres.
Here is a link to WA National Parks complete with pic's, some are suitable for caravans, some are not, but it tells you there, also Camps 6 will tell you as well, see this link for DEC Campsites in WA;
