Go to User Details, then click on Avatar in the side menu, the click on the long bar that says Select which take you to your documents/pictures, select the picture you want then open, this should put you selection in the forum upload bar, the go down to upload at the bottom of the selection fields and click on upload, the wait until the greying of the upload goes white (meaning it has uploaded) and then click on the Submit bar which should put your pic in the avatar box. If the greying does not go white it usually means your picture is too big (large download) I'm not sure what the minimum is I think the Help section tells you.
Other who are more offay (like Wombat etc) can be more specific as they are more experienced.

Hmmmm.....not sure what you are not doing, but it should work. In the right hand big box with the long bar in the middle saying Select a File, click on that one but don't click on the two boxes shown at the top of that page, there is no need to do that.
Regards Wombat, no good upsetting him accidently, you have to do it on purpose to get his attention.
Hope you resolve it soon.

Tried to upset him on purpose after the accident - still not working either
wierd I've done it before so not sure why now won't work - anyhoo
you need to offend me more, and if you have any whips I'll call around later
not saying this will work but when you get to the screen that is the big white one, before you click the big white one press Ctrl and F5 at the same time then press the big white one, keeping my fingers crossed for you.
If that does not work try an email to our mate Cindy she has nothing to do all day
My new camera photo's are too big and I need to work out how to resize - I do know that size matters but the button simply refuses to work at all, I wish I could just go back to my old Av but can't do that either, humpf maybe it's just my pewter. But thanks for help, I know a techie and one day when I can pull him in he will get it sorted??

I use faststone Image viewer for quite a lot of photo management; not so fancy as many other suites (e.g.photoshop varieties) but as you say Wommie, it's a free download.
Google to find..
FastStone Image Viewer 4.6 Freeware (Last Update: 2011-06-29) An image browser, converter and editor that supports all major graphic formats including BMP, JPEG, JPEG 2000, GIF, PNG, PCX, TIFF, WMF, ICO, TGA and camera raw files. It has a nice array of features such as image viewing, management, comparison, red-eye removal, emailing, resizing, cropping, color adjustments, musical slideshow and much more.
