RE: Scam warnings

You can't be too careful. I never buy anything online using a credit card. If they can't email me an invoice or let me pay by direct deposit they don't get my business.

I get emails constantly supposedly from, Telstra, ATO, Paypal, Banks, Ebay, Fedex all saying they need my details or my account has changed or I have added someone to my account or I have purchased this tem and need to pay for it...THEY ARE ALL SCAMS.....NO COMPANY will ever email you and ask for payment, details, etc..... Please be aware and never respond, I send them to the abuse email for the company concerned, then delete them And of course the Nigerian, CIA, FBI they get deleted straight away and also from my deleted box Beware

DON'T DO IT!!!!!
For every good thing on this wonderful technology there's a crook trying to use it to rip you off.
Just be aware if you have paid for an online service by credit card, they may take the money next time without advising you until it's done.
I have warned a couple of contacts to actually tell me first that payment for renewal is due so I can authorise them to access funds through my credit card.
I don't think it's legal in Australia to do this, but it may be different overseas. Be award.
You done good Barina.
We hear these thing all the time, and tragically people get sucked in because they trust.
I have reported some sites for these activities.

same here I disable the automatic renewal and I alone decide if I want to renew than pay..................and I never answer requests on facebook have told all my contacts don't bother adding me to games, or requests as I will never respond.....they only want your details to bombard you with more emails...and scams...............you just have to be so careful....I even when I can copy and paste a/c numbers and passwords so as not to use key strokes.....

And have a good antivirus, spam, email, that updates daily........

You're right Judy, never reply, even to tell them to go away!

I've mentioned this before, but doesn't hurt to mention again, Scamwatch http://www.scamwatch.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/693900 is a site well worth perusing and bookmarking/adding to favorites.

copying and pasting passwords is a bit of a worry though. It means they must be on the computer already?

barina, do you open the emails?

if no then that is good.

if yes then that is bad, opening a email can activate a virus/trojen and your system maybe infected, get Mailwasher from here

http://filehippo.com/download_mailwasher

I always check my emails initially using my ISP's "Webmail" facility on their website using my internet browser. I can delete any unwanted emails here before downloading.
