RISING PRICE OF LPG

Was down in Melbourne last November of a few days and noticed the price of LPG was around 54-55cpl and similar pricing when back home....have just returned from a couple of weeks in the mid west of NSW (Orange/Coolah/Mudgee/Gulgong) and needed to fill up prior to the run home on Sunday morning, 2 of the 3 servos in Mudgee were charging 99.9cpl and 100.03cpl and the Shell in the main street was at 89.9cpl....can someone explain to me why the huge price hike for this product over the last few months.

I notice that petrol & diesel have remained reasonably static during this period at around 150-154cpl........if the price difference continues to shorten looks like a turbo diesel tug will be the way forward.

Also interesting to note the Federal Treasurer beating the tripe out of the Banks, but haven`t heard a peep about the oil companies, maybe another means of bringing the budget into surplus as promised !!

I had a mate who worked on Sandpiper in WA, she is a rather large LNG transport which runs between WA and Japan. He tells stories of the Japanese paying around 2 cents per ltr, yep not a misprint, Thats what he reckons the company in OZ gets. He was a devk officer, so not a dill.

just google Lpg and Petrol reserves in australia, you will find some very, very interesting facts and figures, In short Australia is almost out of Viable oil supplies, and the world demand is creating short supplies, which in turn will make petrol and diesel prices ''sky rocket'' which will mean a big downturn in the goverment taxes from Petrol and oil excise.

However we do have Enormous supplies of Lpg and Lng, hence the goverment will not do anything to stop the ''ripp-off'' price hikes on Lpg as they NEED the taxes that Lpg and Lnp, will bring in to compensate for the loss of the Petro dollar tax that is going to diminish [ soon ]

Following is only one of the links, yo can find on Google, check them out it is really frightning stuff ???

By the end of march, E10 is expected to hit $1.50 per litre and may keep going.

When LPG gets to $1:00 plus per litre it is better to run your vehicle on petrol when towing.   The increase in KMPL and lack of power with gas compared to petrol, it is more cost effective to stick to petrol.   Direct gas injection systems may alter the $1 figure a little.   Do you own sums.   I drive a diesel.

Did a test run on petrol only last weekend

I have a ford territory that runs on lpg and or petrol (direct injection)
Towed my van 1.6tonnes for 200k and returned 5k per litre on petrol
towing the same van on lpg I get 4k per litre

For LPG to become un economical for me at least lpg will have to get up to 90% of the price of petrol
I also have the added benifit of 2 tanks of fuel giving me a range of around 7ook towing the van

ULP tipped to be $1.65 a litre before Easter.

Diesel in Hobart reached $1.569 a litre today, ULP $1.559

Will trade the "bosses" car in for a pushbike next week.

Save a fortune on petrol AND gym fees.biggrinbiggrinbiggrin
