Hi all just new today and on the bucket list is going around Aussie like all you nomads. Have absolutely no idea where to start but thought deliver relocatable camper van from town to town to see how it goes.
At this stage will have to go on my own as hubby doesn't want to do it.
Would love to hear from anyone and all advice and tips so welcome
PeterS In case you are serious I will explain. Some people rent a campervan or even a car to go from Point A to Point B. They are not going back to Point A so it has to be returned to where the rental company are situated. You can get deals on standbycars where you might pay 5.00 a day, have say 3 days and the rental company pays for the petrol enroute. Google standbycars and you will see how it works.
Now that I have made a total idiot of myself I will make a serious comment. I would think it would be very difficult to line up relocations from one place to another that fitted in with where you want to go. having time limits would make it a rush and you'd miss all the good stuff.
I have looked into it PeterS and come to the same conclusion. You might get a Melbourne to Brisbane, ok if you are from Melbourne but might not be able to get the next connecting one to move on, so could cost you heaps in accommodation or airfares to get home. Would have to be planned very carefully to get it right. It could be done with good planning.
Felicity and I had a good experience a few years back;
Relocated a six-berth motorhome from Adelaide to Perth, given six days for the trip, $5 per day charged, and Standby gave $300 towards fuel. During that journey we discovered the very good Frasers Range van park, east of Norseman.
Arriving in Perth, they said the van wasn't booked for a few days so they rented it to us for 3 days @ $75/day (about 1/2 the going rate at the time). This gave us transport to visit friends and accommodation for about 1/2 motel rates!
Then we went back to Adelaide on the Indian Pacific, another experience which had been on the bucket list. Our car was parked at Adelaide airport long term carpark. We had left Bris with intention to tour South Aus but got the call for help from Standby while we were in Broken Hill.
You can register with them for contact if you might be able to take a job form time to time. Flexibility is of course a great asset when moving relocs about, but there are good opportunities to be found.
