saw a story on TV tonight about houses that were rented to new families comming into town with a rental of one dollar per week, there were a number of shops in the story and in a progressive town like Trundle I am sure there will be free camping available, might also be worth checking the Badger site. Let us know what you find I haven't been there yet

It would have to be at least 30 years since I was last in Trundle. But I do remember one thing about the town- it had a main street wide enough to turn a road train around with no probs
must go back there one day, Bogan Gate too had a nice pub.
let us know what you find Rocket N Strop

I can't remember whether it was Trundle or Tullamore that we visited. Both are small Central West towns. Both are looking for visitors keen to spend a few dollars. Camps 6 says you can camp at the showgrounds. Trundle you must collect a key and pay at Lucky Seven store. Tullamore I know has a progressive show committee and holds an Irish Festival.

ummm. an Irish Festival sounds like fun. rocket n strop
Have been to Trundle a couple of times... very old town, like many which are losing population and its good to see they are trying to do something about it. The land is flat, and when I was there, very dry. The pub charged $28 per room, but you can camp behind it, also at the showgrounds I believe. The shops are pretty limited, and theres a big and beautiful old community hall. An interesting feature seen from the window upstairs at the pub was an almost fully grown tree growing up through the tray of a rusting truck.
All those little towns out west are doing it tough. So make time to visit. You often find a special treasure when you do. Yeoval is another little town that is struggling. It has lost its supermarket (twice or three times) and it's newsagent. But there are things to see and a museum to visit. Give it a try. South of Dubbo, north of Molong.NSW
It was Trundle that started the $1 a week rent for a farmhouse scheme in order to attract some people to the town. Could be a good idea too.
If you travel west from Parkes to get to Bogan Gate and then turn right to go to Trundle you used to go through(past) a locality called Bedgerabong but I dont think it is there anymore. Thy used to put on a fantastic rodeo every year and people came from all over the place to camp there and have a great time.
must do some research to see if any of that still happens.

.. I used to know Trundle quite well and some of the folk that used to live there .. but that was more than 30 years ago, so I cant really comment on the current status ..

My wife came from Yarrabandai which is sorta just down the road (south) ..
