I cant fill the tanks on my sterling in under 30 minutes per tank. It doesnt matter how slow i run the hose the water just pours out of the filler neck.
I disconnected the breathers from the back of the filler panel thinking the one way valves may have been stuck that made no difference.
I know the tanks are empty when i start as i drained them.
Have checked for kinks in hoses .
It is a bloody nuisance i hate the thought of filling tanks to go to unserviced camp sites .
Anyone had the same problem and overcome it pleases pass on your solution.
I looked around until I found a hose fitting that was a tight fit, so that it would pressurise enough to clear the vents. Then it fills quicker. It has to clear the water from the vents to work properley
I am toying with the idea of fittng a hose(click on) connection to the vacant bungs on my tanks with a tap to isolate the connector so that I can fill the tanks direct without having to use the "slow fill" thingys.
any thoughts?

I have a short length of hose with a male click in fitting on one end. I connect this to the end of the hose and poke the free end down 100 mm down the filler. Works well.

Hi Phil, I use a removable in-line water filter when filling my tank and it reduces the pressure a bit so was wondering if that might help your problem and as a bonus your water is filtered too. we have a lot of chlorine in our water and you can't taste or smell it after the filter process. I got it from a caravan parts place.

I have tried sticking the hose down the pipe like suggestedthe pressure i need to use to fill my tanks makes water filter pressure look like a pressure washer. My next thing is to make sure the hole in the side of the tank hasnt got some thing blocking it . cheers phil
Mine does exactly the same. If I don't have it just dribbling in the water is running back out as fast as it's filling up. Didn't know anything about all these attachments, just a hose from the tap to the inlet.

I suggest that as you have already tried my method and it does not solve the problem then you have a breather blockage problem. Have you removed the tank to see if the breather hose was squashed between the chassis and the top of the tank during installation?

Problem solved a chap i got talking to at a caravan repairers took me to his house and showed me how he solved the same problem.
Solution was remove drain taps and fit a hose to tank in its place and out to outside if van with another click fitting BINGO can now fill both tanks in 5 minutes.

That is the only method I have to fill my tanks.
I can do it either from a town water supply or from a pump from a creek.
I can flii a tank as fast as the water can flow. A couple of minutes for 100L
thanks for that experience I will go that way so I can pump direct into the tanks too. I can use the slow fill things as vents as well as the tiny vents that are already there that way.

I also have Jayco 2010 Outback, Maybe you have the same problem i had with filling my tank. The filling hose installed by Jayco. ( the clear platic from filler to tank) was far to long,it curved upwards from the filler, as water does not flow up hill, half of it came back on my feet. so i shortened the hose and have no more problems. maybe its a Jayco thing. other than that i,m very pleased with the van. Cheers Birdy
