On the way back from Lakes Entrance I noticed a fruit fly sign and bin when you are going towards Bairnsdale which is not in the Travellers guide. I went to the DPI in Lakes and they gave me a brochure about garden fruit and it showed a permanent fruit fly zone from Lakes to the NSW border all the way to Wodong and Corryong.
If you look on www.fruitfly.net.au/fruit fly exclusion zone it shows a large area which most travellers would not know about.
I saw my local member today in Echuca and explained my views to him and he also thinks there is a lack of proper imformation and access to all the areas, which should be available in detail at all information centres and especially DPI centres
If you agree please contact your member as you could soon go thru a zone and get a huge fine
I have never seen it Ken and I go that way a bit. I am usually watching the road and as I am on my own it would be easy to miss I spose. Luckily I don't carry fruit on board in that are but I will keep it in mind in case I take a bus through that area and will mention it to the boss as well.
