1700km and 6 days from home and staying at Coober Pedy SA (the opal centre of the world) for 4 nights. Have had some lovely nights free camping on the way. Parts of South Australia are like being in a boat on the ocean, as there is nothing as far as the eye can see, awe inspiring!... on on

DO NOT MISS the tourist drive to The Breakaways, It is Special place that you will never forget. here is a link to show you just how great it is http://www.cooberpedy.sa.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=181&c=393
I have friends that have been to C.P and did not know about it, and it is only 33 klms from C.P. on a nice tourist drive
Keep us all up to date on your travels, you know what it's like, if we cannot travel ourselves, we want to read about others adventures. dazren
SA is the state of contrasts. From the never ending horizons in the north and west, to the colours of the Flinders Ranges, to the spectacular coastline, and the Yorke and Eyre Peninsulas. Don't forget the Murray. I drove through the Flinders last week again. It's always different.

We did 'The Breakaways' yesterday. Fantastic, thank goodness for digital cameras and 2meg chips, I would have needed half a dozen 36 reel colour film otherwise. Faye's the underground home dug out by 3 woman was brilliant. For those coming through, we originally booked for 4 nights at Ribas caravan park but have seen everything there is to see in 2 1/2 days. Staying at Ribas was brill because you can go on their mine tour (free camp that night) which is on the site and you do not need to see any other mine as theirs was so informative. Heading for Agnes Creek tomorrow.....on on
Have just arrived at The Rock - can't wait to base walk the 9km around it and take lots of photos.... was amazed at how green the bush is and the fact that there were trees! I thought it was just desert, how wrong can you be......... on on (ex Hashers)
