Tired of those water tanks refills???confuse Slow, frustrating, splash backs; Here is a simple fix , & cheap that will alow refills at normal hose flow.smilesmile

Parts required;

1 x 1/2" clip on hose joiner.

1 x 300mm x 13mm soft flexible thin walled hose. ( clear plastic tubing is good )

System;

Fit the hose joiner to the 300mm tubing;

2,, fit the tubing into the filler neck, rotating the tube will allow it to pass into the filler hose . Push the tubing all the way into the filler neck untill the joiner flange is sitting in the bottom of the neck.

Modiforcation complete.

To fill, insert hose end with clip on connector fitted into the filler & push it down onto the joiner untill it clicks into place.

Turn on tap & fill tank, no need to stand there holding hose.

When filled, with draw the hose & tubing just clear of the filler neck, unclick the hose.

Now push the tubing & joiner back into the filler ready for next time, refit cap.

Very simple.smilesmilesmile

Well done JC. You could enter that on "The New Inventors". I love to make shift or modify things as well. A sense of satisfaction comes over you.

That's one of the reasons you ALWAYS have a locking water filler.

never venture out till you have one as they not only WIZZ in there if they are too short they deposit OTHER stuff in there.

Be warned

Regards
Brian

Great idea.  I was looking for a job today.  Now I've got one.

On the same topic, I had to top up the tank from a bucket once (At Coral Bay in WA) & had no watering can.

I  improvised by making a funnel by cutting out most of one side of a 2L milk bottle, leaving the bottom intact.  Easy job then to put the milk bottle neck into the filler hole with the cutaway section facing upwards then poured the water into the cutaway side of the milk bottle.

Could probably do the same to fill the fuel tank if you had no funnel or nozzle.

On a related subject ....

When changing oil in the beast, I screw a suitable bottle neck into the rocker cover oil filler hole with a bit of rag round it to catch any drips.

The oil is poured in by running it slowly down the shaft of a thin screwdriver placed across the neck of the oil container & resting inside the funnel.  Do misses or drips.

Of course I could just go and buy a cheap funnel & nozzle for a couple of dollars, but thats not the point is it?

These good ideas should probably go in the Hints & Tips thread.

 The trouble with hints & tips section is that there is no seperate heading for each topic, it all runs in together  & one idear becomes another idear & so on. You would have to read the entire section to find what is in there.

Seperate headings would be a great help.

 There appears to be different size filler hoses on various vans & some are to small to be able to fit a standard hose into the filler hose.
