my kids are trying to cover up the hole in the roof... well my son is, my daughter wants to go around to help but she cant get out of her street for the tree that have fallen down, the ses are in her street now trying to clear a way thro

I want to go home an see what the damage is, I'm sure the kids are playing it down as they know I worry.. but we're stuck here because of the weather... so frustrating... and the one who can really help has been called out to help other home owners, a jettys come appart and there are boats floating away, loads of power lines are down and there are fallen trees across so many roads its not funny..... I really do with I could get home! But its so windy here it would be stupid to drive anywhere, there already have been warnings about it :(

Take it easy. I'm sure the SES and your son will do what they can. If you were home you may be staying in your van anyway.
It's really a shock when a natural disaster damages our "nest". You leave the place all nice and come back to a wreck. I had a house fire years ago while I wasn't home. The shop next door caught fire and I had to move house.
Please don't take any risks. Stay put until you know you can travel safely, and not travelling into worse conditions, endangering yourselves, and other road users will also be struggling.
If you can't stay in your van you may need to get some emergency accommodation until you can get back into your house. Take care.

been windy north of perth but not that bad, I have 11 guy ropes on my awning to tether it. Took the risk as there was no where to store the stuff outa the rain. Helped secure an anex for my neibour as they was away, thought we had lost that one. 3 or 4 awnings ruined about the park along with some tents.

That's a concern. Hope everything turns out OK.

Will ring my friends who live on the older canals on the little Murray river at Mandurah to see how they are getting on.

More bad weather on the way I believe.

Good luck. The rock park is not a bad place to wait it out.

Both my daughters homes are good, so is my dear friends place, I was worried about her as she is 76 and lives on her own with trees all around ..... my eldest said that her other half is sorting out my roof, he is a cop and has some friends who will help out in between doing their jobs... they are rushed off their feet working long hours.. he said that they have been blocking roads where trees or power lines are down and some real silly people have charged thro crashing into what evers blocking the roads.... makes you think how stupid some people are... geezzzz... means the police have to sort that out as well not to mention ambulance drivers etc!!!!!! We are staying here the night again and might very slowly make out way back home but if the roads are blocked we'll just park and wait... we shall be sensible, it would be no good rushing about when the kids are sorting it out.... Oh there is nothing wrong with our bus, just a flat tire.. fixed now :) Gonna look around this place with my rain coat on and camera in hand... might as well seeing as we're here :) The park is full of 'stranded' people sitting it out ....

Very windy around Pinjarra yesterday with many trees & power lines down. Western Power are saying this is the biggest power line / infrastructure loss event in WA's history. Up to 100 power poles down and, as said, some places will be out of power for a week.
I put my generator on yesterday evening when we realised the blackout would not be fixed too soon.
This morning we realised that a friend up the road who is 2 weeks into a 4 - 5 week trip to Broome area would also have a freezer thawing so, knowing where a spare key was, I emptied his freezer full of fish & meat into a spare 60l Engel and have it here running on my genny. Hopefully a pack of fish will come my way on his return..lol.

My thoughts are with you. It's a terrifying experience.
I sat it out during TC Rosita in 2000. The noise was horrendous, and waking up to the damage in the daylight was a big shock. The trees were all standing up in the daylight of yesterday, and then they were either stipped of all foliage or lying down. Even the biggest trees around town. The power lines were all out, some lying down, some broken.
The Vacation Village park just happened to be on the power return line, so it was the last place to have power restored. 10 days later.
The ice works made a killing, selling ice twice a day.

Don't want to stress you more Amanda but this was just released on my FB... hopefully it won't get as bad as they are predicting, the rain has been lovely in Geraldton, and although the wind was quite strong, nothing like south of Perth.

"We are expecting that it could get quite windy tomorrow night as well as another low approaches," Bureau of Meteorology forecaster John Grimes said.

"On Tuesday night we are likely to see a system much windier than normal hit the west coast, south of Kalbarri.

"We could experience widespread damaging winds, localised destructive winds, risk of multiple tornadoes, abnormally high tides, dangerous surf and coastal erosion, especially along the west coast."

So sorry to hear you have damage AJ. My son is in Mandurah and I have only meat heard the news, been out of range. I heard his sliding doors blew off the tracks and there was another storm coming through tonight. Hope all is ok with them too. The SES are amazing so I'm sure they will help your son patch it up at least.
I know it's worrying, I'm concerned for my son too.
