We have never booked a site until this year we have found the caravan park we make our base at by chance we rang them just to make sure we could have the site we had last year, it was a good job we did as its been full ,and had to go into the over flow until a power site became available.IT seems Tumling waters is getting very popular
I almost always book ahead. On numerous occasions I would have been caught out had I not. Sometimes "booking ahead" may mean just phoning ahead earlier the same day if it's only for a night or two.
It's sometime since I stayed overnight at Cobar, certainly not a place I would stay at through choice. There were a very large number of permanents who were distinctly unwelcoming.
we stayed at Cobar thought it was good, a good camp kitchen, also a very good bus trip and guide around town, they experiment or trial the new cars there before releasing them, you may have seen them driving around with black covers all over them. this also attracts enormous heat, so i am told to test the paint job. ??
We stayed at Cobar c/p last September and liked it. Liked the town too.
We usually book ahead nowadays, often only a day or two ahead. When people are turned away by 10.30am in some popular places its nice to know you have a spot waiting.
Update on Cobar - visited there today - caravanners we met said they had been able to book because there was new management. Then we talked to a local and I'm not sure the new management is 'good news' as he is talking of putting in a swimming pool and jumping castle. Guess what sort of park he owns somewhere else?? Does this mean the fees will go up? The park was full last night and there were 5 camped at the rest area at heritage centre and five camped at the first rest area out of town. The mines have bought several of the motels in town and puth there workers in them. It's happening all over the country.
