any free camps NINGI/BRIBIE ISLAND/CABOOLTURE

Not sure of the others but Caboolture has the showgrounds for camping.

I will check and see what else there is about as loads of showgrounds are shutting their doors after CP owners complain.

Only other site I can find is Coochin Creek near Beerburrum .It's just off the Bruce Highway north of the Bribie road .It's called Roys Road and it's about seven K's off the main Bruce Highway.Turn Right off the Bruce Highway There is also a Roys Rd on the left side.

There are The Maleny Showgrounds as well, nice place to visit. There is a Park there just as you come into Maleny from the Bruce. It's on the left as you come into town and has a Kiosk/Cafe/Resturant with spectacular views over the Glasshouse mountains.Plenty of parking but not camping.

The park is called The Mary Cairncross park.Well worth a look if you have time.

Only ones I could find in the area apart from truck rest areas.

Hi rocket, don't know of any free camps round that area but there is also the showground at Woodford which we checked out and looked like a great place to stay, or there is the council run park at Beachmere not free but well run and quiet. Hi Gilly...........

I don't know of any free camps over on Bribie Island but do remember reading on here sometime back there is a free camp on the mainland just before you cross the bridge to Bribie Island.

Check with Pauline maybe send her a pm, I know she was staying at a caravan park at Beachmere for a while not too long ago before heading up to Mackay so she may know of some free camps in the area. Marj There is a caravan park just before the bridge its Silver Shores at Sandstone Point but not sure about free camping in that area.

You cannot make a right hand turn at Roy's Road amymore - it has been blocked off.  You have to go up to the Caloundra turn off and come back.  This puts about an extra 20klms on your trip.  The camp ground is nice though although in the warmer weather there are a lot of midgies.

I don't think anybody could expect a free camp near any blue water

As deb-gary say, you cannot turn right off the Bruce Hwy into Roys Rd, nor are there any 'freebie' camp spots on Bribie Is. or just across the bridge on the mainland. Quite a number of people particularly those in motorhomes have parked in the boat ramp carpark across the road from the Bongaree Caravan park for the night - most people on the island are not impressed that they thumb their noses at those in the caravan park. At least if you going to free-camp in non-designated areas, do it away from caravan parks, but there is DEFINITELY NO free camp spots on Bribie.

But the caravan park on Bribie was definitely one of the better ones we've stayed at!

There are two Caravan parks on Bribie for tourists, one at Bongaree on the Pumicestone Passage side and one at Woorim on the surfside. We have only stayed at the Bongaree one but have heard that the Woorim one is OK. There is a third for permanents only.

The show grounds at Caboolture has sites but they are not free. Coochin Creek -( Roys Rd ) costs $20 per night and must be prebooked on line. I use a great website - www.ozcamps.net - which lists a lot of free or cheap camping sites Australia wide. There are filters at botom that make life a lot easier. Hope this helps.
