Buy, Swap or Sell Area on our Grey Nomads forum?

You would probably have to have a section, with each seller starting their own thread with a list of what is for sale.

That is only if allowed of course.

Yes, this is a subject that has been raised before … and clearly there is a demand. I have looked into the best way of adding a buy/sell section and it seems it would be better on the main website rather than on the forum itself. We are in the process of giving the website a bit of an update and it should be ready to go up in a few more weeks. We will definitely add a buy/sell feature to an expanded classified section. I am sure it will be a useful and popular addition to the site.

Before placing a very small selection of items for sale in the 'General Forum' or risk upsetting our good lady webmistress Cindy. I was wondering if any other GN members have had items such as 12Volt gadgets, miscellaneous items they have recently upgraded or would just like to ask fellow members if they have anything particular to sell or swap, that is only caravan or motorhome related.

If there is no such area here in the GN forum, would it be alright to place my items in the 'Techie' area, as all my items are of that nature?

I was only thinking the other night Dave that a Buy, Swap or Sell section would be fabulous here on the forum and yes I agree as long as it has to do with caravanning or 4WDriving.  Sound like a great idea.  I wonder if Cindy would allow it on here?

This is the only Forum of which I am a member, that does not have one.

I think they are a great idea.

Cheers,

Trouble with these things - they take over, with people posting continuously, and I think would take a lot of admin to keep it organised - but could be a good idea if set up properly I suppose.

smile Yeah I to think it would be a good idea, as long as it is not abused ?? and is restricted to C'van, camping, related items,

And maybe just a new heading, seller enters the goods and any buyer contacts him/her through PM,

But ?? this is Cindy's call, she already does a great job, and has a busy workload already,   Cindy will spot these threads, and respond accordingly she always does ?? So lets wait till we here from our esteemed leader ?

Many thanks for the heads up Cindy. Good idea placing the section in the main site, gets us all to have a read there first before coming to the forum.

Phew!!!! Sure glad I tested the waters first.

Gee Dougwe it is really nice to see how you have changed your attitude towards our beloved womat, And seeing as how i am not one to ''stir '' the pot, I will refrain from making any Negative comments. and do what i can to develop your friendship with the lovable wombat, ok  dazren.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh by the way ?? i asked the Upholsterer that question that you asked me to ???? A bout how to make your dining seats in the A-Van a little more comfortable ??

He suggested that you can you use maybe wool or Kangaroo skins ?? BUT said that WOMBAT FUR would not be suitable as per Your suggestion, and said if you want to use WOMBAT FUR, then you can use another upholsterer, as he would not deal with anyone that would do that to a wombat, So i will leave the decision up to you, OK ??

Hope the above information makes your life a little easier, and once again, good on you for tricki [00PS ? ]making up with Wombat.

Cindy will need to word the buy/sell area with the option that this site or its operators will NOT be involved in any disputes, has to be between the seller and buyer only by PM.

I do not see why it has to be caravan/4x4 only, if I wanted to sell a pair of my old socks or undies then it should be the buyer that decides if he/she wants them.

Good idea Cindy about the buy/sell section on the front page, there would need to be some way of being able to delete the ad once sold.
