And they didn't just send one, but two in a row, identical.  Needless to say, I blocked them.

Cheers,

Sheba.

Definately a scam Sheba

The .com.br in the message Id says it originally came from Brazil.

The Banks will never email you requesting any information.

My bank emails advice when my statements are available, but not anything else. All other correspondence is on the account site.
One has to be so careful these days. This technology is wonderful, but for every honest user there are 3 scammers just waiting in the wings to pounce on the vulnerable.

I got a similar email this morning from "ANZ" requesting I update my details. Strange thing is I have never had an account with them and when I look at the return links properties it is an address in Brunei.

I wont be replying

stay safe everyone

Hi Sheba, the best thing to do, is to go to the ANZ web site ( type a new search) and look for the link to do with scams, what ever you do don't click on any link on the scam email. All you need to do is forward the email onto there site and let them deal with it. They can forward it onto the AFP (Aust Federal Police) if they want or they deal with it them selves.

Here is the latest info from them.

Customers have recently been targeted with a hoax email containing a link to a malicious website.

The email asks ANZ customers to verify their account information by clicking on the link provided in the email. When the link in the email is clicked on, a loading page appears and malicious software may be installed onto the customer's computer. Under no circumstances should you click on the link, or reply to the email.

ANZ will never send you an email or SMS asking you to verify or provide your account details, financial details, or login details. Disregard any emails that advise otherwise.

Example hoax email:

Example alert

Customers who have received the email and are concerned should contact ANZ's Internet Banking Help Desk on 13 33 50.

Read our Internet protection tips.

Reporting fraud

If you notice any unusual transactions on your account, please contact us immediately; we're available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

ANZ Cards (Credit, Debit or Access):

ANZ Internet Banking:

Hope this helps, it not only ANZ, we're with another bank and we get them probably every 6 months, we just forward them straight to the Federal police. Scams from Scums.

Regards

Sue & Steve

I reckon ANZ and every other organisation out there will be aware of scams used on their behalf and how to handle it.
The best way is DELETE!!!!!
Don't open it. I have my emails on "review" so I can see it before I open it.
The crap that comes on my Junk Mail is amazing. My real email address and everything. Or a "shot in the dark" address which somehow finds me. DELETE!!!
Even Facebook has something on the go about "Picture Analyzer". I have no idea what it is and I have no intentions of entertaining it. It all comes from total strangers with foreign names.
Many come through Yahoo or similar. No self-respecting corporation would use Yahoo or similar as a communication tool.
