We went to dump point in Charters Towers on Wed. The rain was coming down so hard that us plus 5 caravans & 4 other M/Hs dcided to just stay there. Yesterday dawned fine so off we went heading north towards Emerald (our trip to Fletchers Creek has to be postponed as daughter at Westwood west of Rocky needs a house sitter/dog sitter). About 500m before Belyando Crossing there was a loud bang & then a thump & there went our rear right inner tyre. We crawled into roadhouse & chauffeur spent nearly 4 hours manhandling those heavy tyres on his own. Taking 2 off & then putting 2 back on. He's an old fella now & by the time he was finished he was shattered. We were parked up on the very wide front apron closest to the road section which was the most level spot so I went up to roadhouse & explained what we had been doing & could we just stay there O/N. No I was told but we could go around the back & park up ($15 no power). So I declined her kind offer & we moved on. About 10kms further we found a wide area (unoffricial rest area) with a caravan already there for the night. Now we are in Emerald parked up in front of Beaurepaires. Can't get tyre until Monday at earliest. We've decided to put 4 new ones on rear cost - $1200. Donations can be sent by money order, cash or cheque. Cheers to all
Sorry to hear about your difficulties but they were not very friendly when we pulled up there on our way north we stopped to eat our lunch and when we went to visit the loo a lady asked had we purchased anything as it costs money to maintain the toilets. they obviously need some training in relating to tourists.

Don't know if this is much use now; but there is product called Tyre Weld by Redex (other brands too) that you attach to your valve and inflate from the can about $15 to $20 (Large size). It will seal punctures less than 5cms. It is a liquid rubber and gas mixture and I've found them very helpful from time to time (especially when the mechanic has overtightened the nuts or it's raining). I replace them every couple of years and keep one or two in each vehicle. THey are meant to be a temporary repair, but I have had one in the tyre for over 10,000. For what it's worth.
Oh dear Kadangal - maybe you should have stayed at Macrossan - we left this morning - quite a few came in yessterday, and it was drying out nicely - peoples "lake views" were disappearing!!!!!
Hope it all goes well from no on - cheers!

I made a bit of mistake when quoting price of our new tyres. It should read $2,800. Four tyres @ $700 each. We're decided to replace the other 3 tyres as they are the same age as the one that blew - 9 years old. We had earlier replaced the front ones & now with these new ones they should hopefully last our life time use of this vehicle.
I always like to support places like Belyando Crossing If we don't support people that kept the services in these isolate locations we would greatly miss them if they close down , This caravan park we have used and have found it value for money , and have very nice park area for a rest for travelers who pass by so I always feel happy to support them for there efforts
You should be set for another 9 years and a lot of kms. It's certainly worth your while to make that nasty, painful investment just this once. I put 4 new BFG All-terrains on Rosy @ $300 ea fitted, balanced and aligned. A good deal according to my price enquiries. Living on one of the busiest roads in SA I often hear a semi tyre blow out as they brake for the lights. It can sound like a major explosion, and even make the ground shake. Safe and happy travels now, and I hope Queensland dries out for the "DRY SEASON", lol.
