Great day in Townsville

I had a lovely day sightseeing today.  Although we had never met before Gypsy Rover (Chris) picked me and my little dog up this morning and took us for a lovely tour of Townsville.  Drove up to Castle Hill which overlooks the city.  A bit cloudy but lovely views over the bay.  Visited the botanic gardens and then sat and had lunch by the water.  A drive around the city looking at the various points of interest and then back to caravan park for a cup of tea.

Thank you once again Chris, Oscar and I had a great day and your kindness was much appreciated.

You are welcome Jan, I enjoyed it too.  Great to meet you and Oscar and show you a bit of Townsville.

My labrador is going to be OK.  After telling us they thought he had a tumour in his heart, it turned out to be a thyroid problem so we can hopefully pick him up from the vet hospital this afternoon.

Good luck with the fridge on Tuesday.

Safe travels.

Chris

I think Jules and Billeee picked one of the less desirable parks in Townsville.  Coral Coast is nicer (although pretty busy at the moment).

Cheers!

Chris

Hi Chris and everyone,

Yes nice park but noisy cos it's in the industrial area and on a corner, I like the Woodlands Big4 but a little out of town, Rowes Bay is nice too but they don't return calls and you can't book a site so lost me.

DON't go to a big4 during skool holidays too many kids and ALL big4 parks are too expensive, gave them away years ago.

Rowes Bay has a system where you have to turn up in the morning and wait to see if anyone leaves, once you get a site it yours for as long as you want to stay, they give you until 10am each morning to re book.  Well worth the wait, its in a great spot opposite the beachsmile

Yep - we are in the showgrounds Town and Country cp- not flash - but not expensive either - we can walk to Castletown shops, or into town only about 4k - and when it is this damp - doesn't matter where you are - we have stayed at Magnetic Gateway CP as well earlier on, but getting satellite tv stuff this wekk from place across the road - so very convenient! Rather stay in a free camp anyday - back on the road next week - yay!!!!!

Hello Jules & Billy
Went around to see you but you left for a walk
We stayed 2 days at the Lakes and were put on the back near the road and Macca's, had cars speeding and doing wheelies all night, so not much sleep
now at Home Hill and heaps of vans and whizz bangs
Ken
