the boot leaked on our van i think it always leaked and always would leak to me it was built to leak .
so i made a skirt for it to cover the hing where it leaks/leaked. using a 100 ml strip of ruber and some old sail track i had in the shed by using the sail track it made it a bit stronger

i must say it will probably leak when driving because the wind would lift the skirt or maybe some other strip on the door will look into that lol but this will do for now
Well done! I had to pull the whole boot lid assembly out when the lock broke off, in the locked position. So I unscrewed every screw to get it out, to change the lock. then I had to reseal the whole thing. I made a gasket of silicone all the way around, reseated, put in a few screws temporarily, poured water all over it, found more leaks, and resealed it again. It don't leak now. As for the top section, mine has the track with the plastic stip in it. The only thing I would have suggested is to take that off, and reseal and reset the strip, but your system may be enough to stop the rot, literally. The place the van leaks is not always where the water enters. There was a time in Cairns my van had interntal water features down the walls, and I spent a lot of time mopping up and drying out in the wet season. All that water despite all my efforts to seal it when I first took delivery of the van to track all the water marks inside. I cleaned out most of that Sikaflex, prepared the surface and then squirted marine and auto sikaflex into nooks that didn't even have crannies. It don't leak now.
