The discussion of toilet chemicals reminded me of this topic. I have posted on another forum, but got mixed responses.
I plan to spend long periods camped on/near beaches. Is there any reason I should NOT use sea water in the Porta Potti? I can't see a problem, but I may have missed something. Sure beats hauling and using fresh water, which may be in short supply.
Cheers, Tony

Tony, I really have no idea, but salt water is used in swimming pools going through filters and pumps with similar sort of seals. Hope someone knows for sure.
Maybe the addition of carb soda or the laundry soaker would keep the water soft so it didn't damage the rubber and other fittings within. Sea water by itself could be a bit harsh. I don't know how sensitive these gadgets are.

Lots of people on boats /yachts use them.Perhaps try a yachting site?have used some pretty salty water on travels/bore water etc-no probs so far and thetford is 10 yrs old with no seal issues so far.Has survived the Ann beadell hwy abd Canning stock route. As a solo driver in a group you just cant beat the peace of a private moment and no need to meet the creepies and sliveries at night Cheers mary
