Bruce Highway closed at Maryborough

For the 2nd time in 3 days the Bruce Highway is closed due to a major truck accident. This morning involved 2 trucks with one driver being killed. There is debris across the road I have been told. Could be a while before the road is reopened. They are diverting traffic around through Maryborough somehow.

Oh dear, another truckie. My sympathy to his family... when drivers are annoyed about the inconvenience and running late etc it often gets forgotten that somebody has died .

So true Gerty. Just come over the news. 55 yr old truck driver died. One truck rear ended the other at road works. So sad. Feel for his family so bad.

Maybe we might have to think about using Hazard light on our Trucks, car and Tug when stopped at road works , Some times when we pull put hand brake on and have no sign to say we are stopped , Just a thought

I always sit with my foot on the brake and looking in the rear mirror.

I also think that is the best bit of advice I have heard for a long time, and something I will most definitely use.

Good thinking brickies, I'll file that one away in the memory banks to be used at a later date.  No matter where you go in Qld at the moment there seems to be road works happening.  Getting ready for the next wet season I guess.

Cheers!

Very sad indeed.

Another tip that my truckie brother taught me is when you see, say a kangaroo beside the road, use your hazard lights, so people behind or oncoming realise there's 'something' to watch for.

There are wild horses in the Toolara Forest near Tin Can Bay, so I'm sure there's more in other places.

So I don't see why you couldn't use them when you're last in the queue at roadworks and someone's coming up behind you.

Yes, I'll add this tip to that thread too.
