Thanks for your comments on "tugs" and we have gone with the new Mazda BT-50 Auto 6 speed, and a Nova Treasure Van. As we will be new to this and hope to be on the road by end September now our house has sold, i may be seeking more advice from you seasoned travellers.
Only thing I have to sort out is what size generator to get I was shown the 2.6 Kiptor but have read some bad reviews on them (and apparently they are a rip off from Honda).
Are Honda the best way to go? Would appreciate your comments
Honda are good , we have a Honda 2kva , and a Kipor 2 kva - the Honda is better and has more grunt - it runs our van air cond , the Kipor won't.
But there are now some cheap 3.5 kva electric (with remote) start for around $600 ... these are quite good - a mate has one , kills my Honda for power & easy to start - just push a button - is a little noisier though

Think I would stick with the Honda 2kva. as they will still be around when the others are kaput.
I have had two Hondas over about 12-15 years and never had an issue with either.
My wife and I have just completed our annual northern tour and with all the wet weather and cloudy days the majority of generator that appeared were Honda.
As for noise there is not another generator quieter than a Honda.
I am probably biased a little bit but I have had nothing but good use from mine.

More like VERY noisey when working.

I take your point J.C. they can be a bit rowdy when on full power especially when someone starts a microwave oven.
The good thing is that in a lot of camping areas every one seems to have one and they all get started about 4-5 pm. and off again at 8.30 pm. or thereabouts.
No one seems to be annoyed by the noise. I have a small tent for mine and an old quilt to hang around it and it is very quiet.
Very seldom on full bore and so we can barely hear it.
