We have two Chihuahua's one is 10 and the other is 9, better controlled than children in some of the places we have been in. All it is, is a grab for money. I don't have a problem in paying a bond or deposit, even up to $20.00 per pet (or children as we refer to them). Charlotte being the eldest at 10 has no need for jumping castles or games rooms, she loves to lie around relaxing and just loves to go for a walk,I just can't beleive people are so greedy.

Like you, I don't mind a "good behaviour bond" as we always get it back, but can't see value for money paying $70 per week ($5 each per day) for 2 little dogs to stay with us in our own van.
Our two are 6 year old mini poodles, and like yours, don't use the playground, or the pool, or the games room, or even the showers, toilets or laundry..
I have never seen our dogs cooking in the camp kitchen or BBQs.
I have yet to teach them to read all night using the supplied electricity, but they do watch a little TV if the animal shows are on, (but never unsupervised).
Our dogs do use a little of the supplied water to drink, and if they are particularly smelly, or have been in a creek etc, I have been known to wash them in a bucket, as they are forbidden to use the amenities in most parks.
Our dogs do use the grass though and every tree we pass, but so do lots of local dogs walking through with their jogging or walking handlers. The difference is that, while using the grass and trees, ours are always on leads, while the locals are not, and we clean the grass after ours, while some of the locals do not.
The only thing I have been able to work out, is that this money goes towards lcleaning the tree, where the boys lift their legs, as we never clean those, and they must get really smelly.
That's a rip off, I do not have a dog but i am a pet lover, BUT it must be because of some inconsiderate owners who do not clean up after their pets, it's these people that make it bad for others, having said that I still consider it to be a rip off, stay away from that park.
I'm sure it's about the mess some leave. This park provides doggy doo bags all over the place, but still some leave barkers nests wherever they go. So, the offending behaviour of the minority has to be paid for by the majority. It's a bit rough @ $5 per day. I would have thought maybe a $5 deposit refundable on departure would be acceptable. Maybe these people need to get out of the caravan park business.
I could charge a pee fee to the mid-sized dog which regularly "visits" me and leaves his calling card on my barbecue cover.
I spray it with a mixture of water, detergent and vinegar, the same mixture I wash my windows with. It does seem to deter visits for a few days.
The black dog has been sighted on video security camera strolling in and leaving at his own pleasure, and walks across the busy Pt. Wakefield Road in the early hours of the morning.

Well written Rip & Rosie. I have been known to pick up after other dogs, just so we dont get blamed for the droppings lying around our van. Our dog is always supervised both in and around parks, and we always carry our doggy bags in our pockets for those just in case moments. Have never been charged (yet) for him to stay in a van park, however, have paid deposit and have been asked for proof of vacinations as well.

You can't blame travellers for the behaviour of local dogs.
No way would I blame travellers. It's just ironic that a local dog visits a dog-friendly park to pee. Maybe it's adopting me as I don't have a dog or any other pet. I do blame the travellers for not cleaning up the mess their dogs leave. Some people are travelling with more than 1 dog. The most unusual pet I've seen in this park is a group of ferrets. They are cute and fluffy, but not very predictable or obedient. Well, I thought it was funny to have 4 ferrets on leads.

The $ 5 a night for a dog is still cheaper than what you have to pay for a child , All Caravan park do charge for extra person so maybe this is something they have just realized , People do use the thing in the park for there dogs . Just recently unknowning in walk on some fresh dog poo and walk into the Caravan what a mess and bad smell , yet to walk in kids poo and they are charged extra at caravan parks
